Just a thread for little snippets of wisdom from the wisdom books or even post bits from psalms here. Keep in mind the context when something is posted. Go and look it up, soak it in ^.^

Today's thread of wisdom:

Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?" For it is not wise to ask such questions. ~Ecclesiastes 7:10

A word search for rubies. Check out where wisdom and "a wife of noble character" are mentioned.

This is why I said "Find wisdom, -then- find a wife"

Job 28:18
Coral and jasper are not worthy of mention; the price of wisdom is beyond rubies.

Proverbs 3:15
She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.

Proverbs 8:11
for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.

Proverbs 20:15
Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel.

Proverbs 31:10
A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.

Isaiah 54:12
I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.

Lamentations 4:7
Their princes were brighter than snow and whiter than milk, their bodies more ruddy than rubies, their appearance like sapphires.

Ezekiel 27:16
" 'Aram did business with you because of your many products; they exchanged turquoise, purple fabric, embroidered work, fine linen, coral and rubies for your merchandise.

Proverbs 1:20

she raises her voice in the public squares;

Insults of biblical proportions. Knew that was coming.

Collassians 2:8a;
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
(Religious Dogma not specifically written in the bible would be "traditions of man". I believe killing in the name of God/Christ would fall into that category, which happens quite a lot.)

Lessons to learn from the Bible

2 Kings 2:23-24

Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, “Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!” So he turned around and looked at them, and pronounced a curse on them in the name of the LORD. And two female bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youths.

(Don't call me a baldhead or I'll have God mess you up!)

Mark 14:51-52 NASB
A young man was following Him, wearing nothing but a linen sheet over his naked body; and they seized him. But he pulled free of the linen sheet and escaped naked.

(streaking is sometimes necessary)

Deuteronomy 23:1 ESV

No one whose testicles are crushed or whose male organ is cut off shall enter the assembly of the Lord.

(gotta draw the line somewhere, can't just let anyone in. Protect them gents....at all costs, or you are just S.O.L)

Genesis 38:8-10 NASB

Then Judah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife, and perform your duty as a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother.” Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother’s wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother. But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the LORD; so He took his life also.

(if god tells you to b.a.n.g someone, you better do it.....OR ELSE)

1 Samuel 18:25-27 ESV

Then Saul said, “Thus shall you say to David, ‘The king desires no bride-price except a hundred foreskins of the Philistines, that he may be avenged of the king’s enemies.’” Now Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines. And when his servants told David these words, it pleased David well to be the king’s son-in-law. Before the time had expired, David arose and went, along with his men, and killed two hundred of the Philistines. And David brought their foreskins, which were given in full number to the king, that he might become the king’s son-in-law. And Saul gave him his daughter Michal for a wife.

(the things you'll do for punany)

Exodus 4:24-25 NASB

Now it came about at the lodging place on the way that the LORD met him and sought to put him to death. Then Zipporah took a flint and cut off her son’s foreskin and threw it at Moses’ feet, and she said, “You are indeed a bridegroom of blood to me.”

(awkward situations, they happen even to profits)

Ezekiel 16:17 NIV

You also took the fine jewelry I gave you, the jewelry made of my gold and silver, and you made for yourself male idols and engaged in prostitution with them.

(always give a receipt so this never happens)

Judges 3:19-25 ESVAnd Ehud reached with his left hand, took the sword from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly. And the hilt also went in after the blade, and the fat closed over the blade, for he did not pull the sword out of his belly; and the dung came out.

(details are important)

Deuteronomy 25:11-12 NASBIf two men, a man and his countryman, are struggling together, and the wife of one comes near to deliver her husband from the hand of the one who is striking him, and puts out her hand and seizes his genitals, then you shall cut off her hand; you shall not show pity.

(let boys be boys, and at all costs, ladies, keep your hands to yourself)
