Just something that I have been thinking about based on some correspondence lately. What are your expectations/desires for what this group should be?

I will share mine.

I came to this group because of the openness to questions and diversity in thought. It gave me the safety to work through issues of my own and to stand for the rights of those who may be overlooked or driven away from a Christianity that has less room for expressions of doubt, emotion, skepticism, etc. I guess, you might say, I have sometimes seen churches as presenting the story of Christ's mercy and grace with a "tomb closed" mentality, that is, a mentality that shuts out many that Jesus came to offer his life for. This group gave me a sense of the stone being rolled away for those who have felt shut away from a community surrounding Christ for too long.

Watchman Nee, a Chinese evangelist, wrote in a book the question of how a person can come to have a relationship with someone they have never communicated with. This turned on its head something I had grown up believing -- that you already had to be a Christian to talk to God. Since then, I have made a point of opening the possibility of communicating with God to anyone and have seen people moved by the reality of the God they had thought was closed to them.

So there you have a part of my feelings on this. I guess you could call this meeting on the riverside or going out into the hedges -- being in a place where no walls hold people out.

Thank you for sharing that with us.
For me I try not to have expectations when meeting new people. My thoughts are to just be my self and see how people will respond to my personality. I have accepted that not everyone is going to respond favoribly to me and I am fine with that.
I am just here to meet people and interact and possibly find a woman that I can develop a relationship with outside of this site.

I am a strong stable man with very little need for counseling or support. If and when I do need support I have plenty of loved ones to go to for that.

It is my desire to find a strong in the Lord stable christian woman that we have common interest with. The first interest and the most difficult is finding a woman with simular church experience.

I am a member of a church out of the Plymouth Brethern branch of Christianity. We are very conservitive in practice and thought. I have been fellowshiping here for about two years after leaving Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia where I attended for about 15 years. I have seen more brotherly love expressed in the past couple years here than the whole 15 with calvary.

The relationships I have developed and the Love the brethern have for Jesus and His sacrifice for the remission of our sins have made a great impact in my life. It is my desire to be able to share worship in a deep level with my next significant female relationship and I am patient and willing to wait as long as it takes.

But I want to give God oppertunity to work in providing the woman He has for me and in His timing. So I am here trying to do my part and by faith allow God to do His part.

I joined this group for the following:

~ Learn from others - whether it be experiences that are shared or thought processes.
~ Somewhere to be able to talk about Christianity and Scripture.

If we were meeting in person, I would add social interaction. But I haven't finished sorting out in my own thoughts whether I view this as a form of 'social' interaction or not. LOL!

i want to publicly thank coeuri for the way she runs this group- with openness, gentleness and tact- where everyone feels able to post and contribute to the conversation.

here is hoping that we can all continue to spur one another on toward godliness through loving honesty.

loving and gentle- yes, if possible,- but always honest.

No real expectations. Just offering up a thought every now and then when I feel the need to...
