I need to take some more pictures of us. I don't have very many - recent ones anyway. I could put up an older one. I have lots of good ones from earlier this summer.

I am confused why a Christian group would host a fan club for anyone but the Lord?

Not trying to be unkind. It just seems the wrong place for a fan club unless it's concerning God.

Ah yes, a "Jesus only" fan club. After all, anything else is idolatry. Then perhaps, we should dictate the type of music "Christians" listen to? It doesn't matter if it's a song by some "godless secular artist" extolling homespun family values; if God is not at the center, you are definitely "unspiritual" for listening to it. Then perhaps, we could further regulate and refine conduct, behavior, and attitudes and created the perfect city of God on earth; as Calvin did in Geneva? Under threat of strict punishment, no one will be excused from Sunday services, and heresy is a capital offense. Ah yes, we could create the perfect paradise on earth, where "God only" fan clubs are allowed. We could even print up T-shirts around Christmas time of Jesus vs. Santa, and how Jesus kicks Santa's @ss. We will have the perfect society as God intended, where everyone is a perfect cookie cutter robot, and no mindless or "unspiritual" diversions are allowed.

Mainly ballet conditioning, with a little pilates and yoga thrown in now and then. I'm out of practice though and really need to get back into the ballet on a more regular basis. I miss it!

Thanks for the compliment!

It wouldn't surprise me. I usually do not watch South Park. It's too far out, even for me ( after all, a person does have to have some standards) . I thought of the idea, when I remembered walking through the local Christian bookstore around Christmastime a few years back. And no joke, the T-shirts may have not said it in the same words I expressed . However, the same sentiment was there. Who knows. Perhaps the creator of South Park was walking through a Christian bookstore, and the same impression struck them?

It is interesting that roughly only 25% of people who attend church, buy merchandise from Christian booksellers. Yet, it is a billion dollar industry. Aside from the Christian kitsch merchandise, the numbers also reflect those who are hungry and voracious readers. Yet, I am reminded of the distinction between "sheep and goats." Goats are basically consumers by nature. It is ironic that the 25% who support a multibillion dollar industry, who are insatiable in their hunger and thirst for knowledge (not only those who are buying the kitsch merchandise), are also the biggest consumers, or "goats" (And I do sort of resemble Pan ...Don't I? at least on the top half ).

Boy oh boy. I can't see where I said to have a fan club for anyone but God was IDOLATRY. I didn't say it was wrong to have a fan club. I didn't understand why lindseyk's fanclub was here. Why not place it in another group or alter the name so the focus is better? I don't know.

Rix and lindseyk are leaders in this group and I am not, I will take my place. Rix doesn't care for my thoughts. I wanted to express myself with respect.

I don't think everything must be sacred. I am a nurse and am employed by an org. that is not Christian.

I have caused upset. I am sorry.

it's OK. trust me. i've seen "upset" around here. this ain't it. it's just a little playful ribbing. maybe sarcastic. perhaps snarky. but i wouldn't worry about it too much.

if you've read the thread, you'll understand the spirit of the thread. but i will admit that i was not too keen on this thread when it was started either. so i did what i have subsequently posted what i think is good advise above- i ignored it.

but after watching us collectively draw blood from each other over what has often amounted to counting angels on the heads of pins- i've come to the realization that this forum cannot just be a place where we do doctrinal battle. we need fellowship. and we need encouragement. and yes, we need doctrine too.

but i'd like this group to reflect a balanced christian life. i want to see it all here. i refuse to segregate my christianity to some holy area. i want it to pervade my life. and so, i'd like this group to reflect that life- a christian life. not a sunday church life, but a life that oozes god 24/7- even in the frivolous.

and since christains too can have fun, this belongs right where it is. and i purposely posted in it the other day when this had drifted to page two. i cannot think of anyone who oozes god more consistently on these boards than does lindsey.

i am a fan. and i think she has been an encouragement to us all.

Marcia, i truly hope i have not offended-

and i hope you stick around.
