Heavenly Father,

It is with a sad and heavy heart that I come before You tonight. Our community is struggling right now with some difficult issues that are dividing, rather than uniting us. It seems we are so many voices speaking yet not understanding one another, for whatever reason. Old wounds are being torn open and salt poured and ground into them - not salt that heals and preserves, but salt that wounds and stings. Arrows of sharp words are being launched with deadly aim. O God, forgive us. Forgive me. I confess my lack of patience and lack of desire to show mercy and grace. I confess that I read these threads prepared to be annoyed, which might cause me to overlook real pain or something that You would have me notice. I choose this moment to release my feelings of aggravation and my desire to lash out in return into Your hands. I leave them in Your care - wash me and make me clean. Renew my mind, I pray. May I ever fix my heart and mind on You. I am Yours - use me as You choose.

Father, I see so much pain in this group. I pray that You would bind up the wounds of those who are hurting and speak peace into the hearts of those who come here for discussion and debate, sharing and solace, or just out of plain old curiousity. I pray that no one would be turned away from this group because of what they have found in the discussions here. It is my earnest hope that not one person would be turned away from You by anything they read here. May all of our words be seasoned with grace and our first response be one of mercy, rather than judgement. May we read one anothers' posts with the eyes and mind of Christ. If correction is needed, I pray that it would be given gently and received graciously. In all of our ways, I hope and pray that we will be honouring to you.

Lord, I humbly ask that You would bind us together as a community. Draw us closer to You, and through that, closer to one another. Let this be a community that grows together, instead of one that is fractured and dysfunctional. As we seek You, I pray that You would reveal more of Yourself to us and use us to minister to each other and to those who are new here and seek community.

I pray all of these things in Jesus' Holy Name,

Amen

I love being humble, but not sharing this would be less humble than sharing it, for I would be hiding the credit to God for answering my prayers. I wrote out a prayer (as I have a habit of doing when I pray important things) Here is what I prayed two weeks ago, coinciding closely with the date of Lindey's prayer:

Tuesday, August 4th

Dear Heavenly Father,
You know my heart, may your name be praised above all.
Search my heart, reveal your truths to me.
Keep me in step with your Spirit.
Guide me into your love.
Let me meditate upon your Holy scriptures.
May your life be enough for me.
I submit all my desires, and I cast them aside like rubbish in order to set them in front of your throne.
All these things,
Financial, Creative, Structural, Simplification, Health, Energy,
Productivity, Wisdom, Help, Advice, Debts and Income, a future wife and the pleasures she brings,

All these things I place before you and I say,
Oh Lord, the One who far surpasses all things in all ways,
The one who is full of life and love, who's word is true and steady, and who's tongue shapes the heavens and the earth,
My will bends to your unbreakable life, your unbreakable love,
teach me your ways that I may walk in truth and life and love.

To the Beginning and the End, the Righteous One, the Lover of my soul,

To you who have conquered death and promised a light yoke,
To you who sit upon the Throne of mercy, encircled by creatures, elders, and heavenly beings,
To you who has firm command of all authority, and the heavenly angels,
To you who walks among the lampstands and tells men to write to the angels of churches,

May Your Name be praised, You deserve all glory and honor and power,
May Your Kingdom Come, may earth be made into a heaven fitting for your feet to walk in,
May Your Glory and your Love shine through us and pass through our being, like in the New Jerusalem,
May Your Father be our Father, and may his glory spread throughout the earth,

Forgive me my sins and do not turn your face from me,
I have released all from bondage to my heart, I forgive quickly and easily, and I let men continue on their path, good or evil,
May you not hide your face from me, or close your ear to my prayers, may you confess my name to the Father and pass along my words in good standing.

And if anything about myself is not true, how you know it, how your eye is on my heart, cleanse me and wash my feet.

Oh Lord,
Your servant who is seeking to serve you zealously and deeply out of love is in need.
Firstly, I have come to deliverance and joy, but the soundness of mind and the steadyness of a still heart has not met me here,
May you teach me how to be perfect and how to steady my heart that I might stay in your Holy presence and be true to your Holy word,
Grant me knowledge of the scriptures that sustains me daily, grant me favor in my studies and meditations of God's word,
Keep your servant from temptation, I know the evil one lurks and longs to enslave me to my desires, teach me to overcome,
Grant me favor in seeking a wife that I may stay in your will, teach me what to look for, and how to find her,
give me the strength and peace to wait on you in all these things,
Grant your servant favor with men that he may find the resources to continue to do good things,
Grant me that I may wait on you and your timing,
In all these things I submit to God's will, the Father's will and the Son who is in the presence of the Father,
Grant me wisdom to see these things through,
Grant me your spirit in abundance, like a Holy Flame able to destroy the worldly systems that bind,
Grant me Faith
Grant me Hope
Grant me Love in all its languages

Holy is your name, Holy is your dwelling place, Holy are your servants whom you have cleansed and set to work as a Holy priesthood,
May all who hear these words consider them and say amen if they are righteous and true
If they are tainted, if the deceiver has spun a lie and it has found its way into my prayer while I multiplied words,
May it be struck down and blotted out,
May the one who knows hearts see it and correct it so it may be pleasing to his ears.

In the name of the Lord, who is over all, amen.

I love this prayer of St. Francis. It speaks of turning upside down how the world might view things so that we can live that of God's kingdom that is in the world in the here and now.

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy;

O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.

For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Heavenly Father, look into the hearts of men and fill them with love and peace. Remove the jealouy and strengthen our faith. Touch our minds with the wisdom that we should do the right things and diminish the thoughts that plague us with worry. Be merciful upon us and forgive our sins. We ask this in your name. Amen

I look forward to when they sort out that so that we can sticky some important threads to the front, like the prayers and the welcome to guests threads.

Should we have prayers for the group of Christian Singles? Something here is different. It is changed. Will this group become strong again? Can all give a prayer w/your other requests? Have the other readers noticed?

Most definitely this is a place for prayers for our community here. If you can, word the prayers on here so that we can be the two or three together in sharing the prayer.
