Can anybody think of anything that Christians say, that we understand but the world often takes offense at?

For example, I used to see this bumpersticker around a lot,it went someting like this, "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven". We know what it means but I never really thought about how it came across to non-christians till a non-christian friend of mine read one one day and took offense at it. Even though we mean it as a way of saying we make mistakes too, he took it to mean that we're better then he was because we're going to heaven and he wasn't.

The bumper sticker that says "Next time you think you're perfect - Try walking on water!" That can come off and arrogant or self-righteous pretty easliy.

Now I know this from basic marketing - every word you use creates a picture in a persons mind. The problem is that the picture is different in everyone's mind! When I say firefly, to each of you reading something slightly different came to mind. That reaction is based on your frame of reference (e.g memories, experiences, etc).

Basically what I'm saying is that no matter what we say, no matter what slogan or witty phrase we use - someone is going to be offended by it, somebody will take it out of context, somebody won't see it the way we do. We should be responsible and use common sense when choosing how we represent our faith or viewpoints, but ultimately we can't make everyone happy. Maybe someone was offended by "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven" but then at the same time, two other people may have had the seed of the gospel watered in their life when they realized that Christians don't claim to be perfect after all.
