Ok well I am 25 years old and just got out of a long term relationship. I live in the DC metro area and I am tired of the bar and club scene. I did so much of that when I was 19 - 22 that is was crazy.
I see this and other similar places as just a virtual bar scene. Just like we go to bars to meet guys we come to places like this to meet guys. As to which one is less crazy or whatever, who knows. I suppose it all comes down to whether it works. If you find the guy you think is really cool in a bar then you are a fan of the bar scene. If you find the love of your life here then you will be singing the praises of this virtual bar scene.

When I joined I was spending a lot of time in DC (I live in Alabama). I wasn't around Alabama for the bar scene or anything else so eharmony seemed as good of an idea as any to stay connected with the dating scene.

I am 26 years old and I joined EH in hopes of finding Mr. Right rather than Mr. Right Now. My best friend found her husband on here and it gave me hope because they are absolutely amazing together. Unfortunately, I haven't had good luck so far! The bar scene does not seem ideal and the club scene is all wrong and smells like sweaty alcoholics. So...EH it is! And even though I am getting several matches a day, at least half of them have no picture, another 1/4 are guys 3 inches or more shorter than I am, and the other 1/4 don't respond to any kind of communication. Maybe its true that when you aren't looking the one will just show up one day?
weakforlove, I'm 25, and I joined to find that "someone". I've had a profile for four years and have only one match get to open communication. What initially made me join was an uncle who got remarried (and now I have a stepcousin!) The one thing for me is that it can take a while to find someone who has all compliant must-have's & can't stands. That's the real challenge at this point. My one match had to call it off because she's gotten really busy with her new job. It was kind of unfortunate because we were doing well. I knew that it was nice and something that I did enjoy. I've set up another group for woring 20 somethings as well as one for all long-distance US-Canada-Alaska relationships. They're both on my profile. But that's why I've joined the site and wish luck to you as well.

I'm 23, I opted to join EH for a number of reasons. First, the bar and night club scene does not work for me. I don't drink and I find the notion of an enclosed space filled to the brim with people who are drinking or drunk and then loud, potentially obnoxious music unappealing. I have done the online dating things with a number of other sites without any success. I am in a place in my life where I want to find the right woman for myself who would be interested in the long term with me, i.e. eventual engagement, marriage, children, etc. On most every other site I have been a part of I have found very few women with similar goals for themselves. Actually, the few women who did respond and then the one or two I actually met told me thery were only interested in casual dating with non-commital sex. If I wanted a good snog on a one night stand I imagine I would have been all right on thise sites. EH seems like the only singles site going whose members want more than non-commital sexual relationships, and when I joined it seemed like, given what the tele commercials might indicate, that I would readily meet persons of like mind. So far, although I have sent questions and icebreakers to about 15 women, not one of them has responded back, with the exception of closing communication to me. I have been disappointed by this but I continue to hope for a positive response eventually.

I am beginning to think that the EH universe of twenty something is very, very small. The EH universe of men who are twenty something is even smaller. The EH universe of men who are twenty something and no longer tied to mommy's apron strings is even smaller, yet. The EH universe of twenty something guys who are completely indoctrinated with the Bible's anti woman agenda is almost too small to measure.

I think I will save myself some money and just hang out on this free forum. I am not likely to find too many guys who are not way, way north of 30 or 40 or...

I haven't been on EH very long but thus far I haven't had too much luck really. I've been single for just over a year since the end of a long term relationship. I have another year or so before I go to law school so I'm hoping to meet someone special since I don't imagine I will have much time for the social scene once I start school again.

Indeed the E-Harmony Universe for those within the 20-something universe does seem extrordinarily small. I have come to believe, as a 23 year old man looking around at the society around me, that the importance of relationships for the focus of long term commitment, i.e. marriage, is not withstanding and everyone seems to want non-commital sexual partners. I, of course, am perturbed by this situation, especially as I am now searching for a woman I might hope to become my bride within the next few years. It seems like you have an understanding of this perturbing problem, it seemed necessary for me to repsond to your view with a statement of both admiration and understanding.
