If only he was not your son`s friend, I would say go for it! Age is just a number.

IMO there are plenty of other hot 31 year olds who are not your son's friend. Unless your son's loss of this friend won't matter to him. Because you can bet your....bottom dollar...that he's not gonna want to stay friends with the dude who's boinking his mom. No matter how old and mature he is.
Ditto that! Any relationship there will cause a rift between you and your son, your son and his best friend, and eventually, you and the younger man. It's a no-win situation all around.

Are you SURE you are reading his signals correctly? As his friend's mom, it's likely he's playing with the idea of being with an older woman, and you are a safe target to flirt with because of your son. He could be counting on his relationship with your son to keep anything from really happening.

My guess is that if you were to indicate to the younger guy that you are seriously interested he will run for the hills.

I caught this show because I didn't know what a cougar was :-) Here is a synopsis.

http://drphil.com/shows/show/1083

I suggest you read it before making any kind of a move. I agree with those who say to go for it if he wasn't your son's friend, but you need to be realistic about the possible outcomes. It will most likely be a fling for him. I dated a 31 year-old when I was 46, and it turned out that he was only interested in learning about sex from an older woman. Some men are looking for a Sugar Mama. Do you think that he will want to be with you when you are 70 and he's 43? Does he want kids? Things to find out before you take the leap.

Well, I'm a "really young" 56 year old also, but I think the 27 year gap is too much. I did date younger men when I was in my 40's, but I also knew none of them would be long-term.

You just have too much at stake as far as your relationship with your son(s).

And, NOT all men in our age group are looking for the young ones. Please don't let that rationalization be your excuse to date men much younger than yourself.

Best of luck to you!

Absolutely nothing. But Sueanne described it as a potential " relationship ".and she seems entranced.

I think thats the difference.
