Putting aside the stuff that irritates us, what makes up happy in life?

I've become really good at pushing past the irritating things that are a pain in my everyday life when I'm at work. I don't think about those unpleasant things until I'm off the clock. That's makes me a slight bit happier in my life. It's a true "out of sight, out of mind" thought process.

Recently my manager has been asking me to work more hours. This makes me very happy because we are given so few to begin with. Not only does it help my immediate financial status but I also think my manager appreciates my work ethic. I am also within arms reach of an automatic raise.

So, what makes you happy?

Warm beaches. Good hair days. Snuggling with my boyfriend in front of a movie that we both like. Having someone else watch my dog for a week or two. Cut flowers. Pleasant, unexpected things. Pretty pictures.

To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women!

Warm rain. Smelling my GF's hair while she is sleeping. (don't tell her... might creep her out) A porterhouse and a glass of red wine.

The moment when a screen full of ASCII and math notations finally resolves into a picture of some star/nebula/galaxy that NOBODY HAS EVER SEEN BEFORE.

OK that one wins... I get chills just thinking about it. Man I love my job.

My dog acting ecstatic when i get home from work and giving me a big kiss (yes, I let him kiss me!). Seeing my kids happy. Clean white snow on tree branches against a bright blue sky. A good sermon on Sunday.

Checking things off my TO DO list. The smell of something yummy baking in the oven. Morning in the spring. Summer vacation (hey, its not only the kids who live for it...we teachers love it too!!) and anything that includes peanut butter & chocolate in its name.
