So I was just wondering, are the 4 people who have appeared every day, on every page that I use on eHarmony advice being paid royalties for being the featured four on "Connect with Advice Members" or does eHa, pick people they think I'll like? Or is it random, and I just happen to get the same 4 randomly every day?

Guess we'll never know, but I thought it might be funny to see who gets to stare at our picture and profile every day. I have:

  1. anera
  2. Benevolence32
  3. pchep
  4. JDavid (just became friends with him, but I don't think it was because eHa is promoting him on daily basis. But who knows the power of suggestion?)
Anyone forced to look at my avitar?

The same 4 people appear when I'm on, and I'd be surprised if anyone sees anyone different. A couple weeks ago there were a different four featured, so I figure it changes every month or so.

At first I thought they were just picking some of the more popular or prolific posters in the forums, but two of the four rarely post so I have no idea how they got picked.

I don't know whether there's any purpose to the feature other than generally trying to promote a sense of community.

They don't even know that they are going to appear as featured members until they show up there. No royalties are paid...lol.

Everyone sees the same featured members, which are changed periodically (maybe monthly? I don't keep track...).

How the members are selected is a mystery, but presumably the powers that be who select them find them interesting and think that they will appeal to people visiting the site. Sometimes the featured members include people who are pretty active on the site here (so it makes sense when they are selected), but others are members who rarely post (or who last posted many moons ago) and I am completely mystified as to how they ended up being featured...lol

Everyone sees them! Golly! I notice they are members who put their photo up instead of an avatar. I was thinking of putting my photo up instead, but I think I'll nix that idea. I don't want to be run the risk of eventually coming up on EVERYONE'S page for an entire month. That's too much of a good thing.

I rotate those Featured Members as often as I can but would really like to do it weekly.

No royalties are paid b/c that is about celebrating the awesome people here in our Community!

I basically just peruse the Advice Profiles for people who have a good photo of themselves up AND a robust, interesting Profile.

By not having a photo up, and having an empty profile, I am sooooooooo safe...

Do you ask the people if they want to be "featured members," or do you just put them up there without asking?

I can answer that one: You aren't asked ahead of time; it just kind of happens!
