I come here several times a year but I'm free today at 2:30 and I don't have to be to LAX until 9:00am tomorrow. What would you do?

I'd hit all the museums, a few trendy places to eat, and go shopping. But that's just me.

well Dennis i have only been out there once. the most beautiful sights to me is riding up the coast line. where the ocean meets the mountains. it is really pretty. u have the coast on one side of the road and a mountain on the other. guess u don't have a car. being u got to be a LAX.

Go up to the Getty Museum near Malibu. Great views and exhibits and the restaurant is pretty good.

Well, if you take that approach, be sure to get a box of See's candy first....yuuummmm (even better than pie)!!!

But, there are lots of nice beachy places to hang out (Santa Monica, etc.), although it would be helpful to know whereabouts you are staying to give suggestions (and also whether you have a car, which I will assume you do...).

No, I've just been throughly enderwhelmed everytime I've been, and I think I hold a grudge that your ocean is just way to cold. The water there in August is as cold as the water in Florida in November.
