Last week, I read Deal Breaker by Harlan Coben.

I thoroughly enjoyed his writing. The story was immediately interesting and held my attention through the two reading sessions to complete it. I didn't pick the murderer at all and was stunned when he revealed the culprit. The characters being set in sports environments and work required was fascinating. His writing is descriptive and I was able to often picture the scene(s) being described, that doesn't always happen with me. (I tend see words when I read, not pictures created by the words).

Definitely going back for more of this author.

Since I've most been reading output from Black Library over the past 2-3 years, I am really liking their new rising star Aaron Dembski-Bowden. He's very descriptive in his writing and good about completely fleshing out characters and making you really connect/sympathize with all of them and especially brings out the loathsome qualities of the antagonists. I don't really have any faults with him other than the choices that are made by his editors. Since he's playing in a setting that has been developing for close to 3 decades now he's doing a real good job at building upon that, even when it's with choices I know his editors are more likely to have picked than himself.

The Black Library is the publishing division of Games Workshop, most notable for their table-top war games Warhammer & Warhammer 40,000.

Two nights ago, I finished reading Fire Dance by Caroline Graham.

If you're thinking the author's name seems familiar, it is in her novels we meet Inspector Barnaby, in the very successful television series: Midsomer Murders. Fire Dance is a not a Barnaby mystery.

I was wondering what the title was all about, because it doesn't happen until about the last five minutes of the book and I hated the ending. The characters weren't as real to me as the characters are in the Barnaby books, but then this is also the first of her novels to be published.
