Is anyone reading Suzanne Collins' trilogy? Wow. I have spread them through my coworkers like wildfire, now everyone is hooked!

There is a lot of cyber-controversy about the casting of the female lead in the upcoming film version of Hunger Games. Does anyone who has read the books have any thoughts?

A good friend of mine mentioned these books to me. She loves them and I'm going to check them out soon. So I'll make a post that contributes to the discussion after I've read them :-)

A couple of months ago, I just finished "Mocking Jay", the final book in the trilogy. Of the 3, I liked "Hunger Games" the best. It reminded me as sort of a cross between "Logan's Run" and "The Running Man". (Both kind of cheesy scifi flicks from the 70's-80's).

The books are sort of "futuristic", but eerily, they could almost take place "now", right here in the US.

I haven't given any thought to who might play Katniss, but hopefully they will cast someone appropriate, and not someone like Lindsey Lohan.
