Any one ever read "A People's History of the United States" by Howard Zinn?

It is a fantastic and eye-opening account of American history. I learned so much reading it. Anyone else here ever read it?

One thing I remember from it(not the ONLY thing, just one)...MAN, Christopher Columbus was one mean, genocidal SOB. It's really pretty disgusting that we have a "Columbus Day".

I have read it as well. Probably have it somewhere in the house.

That was in college & I have no recollection of details whatsoever.

That was 17 years ago... so yeah.... there is no shot whatsoever of me remembering exactly what any one author said.

I do remember reading a few of his works & found him to have an appealing mind.

Zinn was a Marxist who had nice things to say about Stalin (while he was killing millions), Mao (whose death toll makes Stalin a piker), Castro, and every American enemy since world war II.

He called Mao's China “the closest thing, in the long history of that ancient country, to a people's government, independent of outside control.”

Google "mao death toll" for the horrific numbers. You wouldn't believe me if I wrote them here.

Even the socialist magazine Dissent pronounced the book a fraud: Dissent Magazine - Spring 2004 Issue - Howard Zinn's History ...

Can such a man be trusted to produce an accurate and fair history of America?
