About every 10th book is a re-read. Some things I've re-read many times!

Ruth Rendell
William Golding
John Fowles

Some books are just so perfectly entertaining I want to have that fun again.

Other books are artworks ... can't listen to Beethoven's 9th too many times!

I think pretty much every book that I've read and really, truly enjoyed, I've read at least twice. I've read more than a handful 5+ times. I read for the emotional thrills of a book--suspense, dread, regret, satisfaction, horror, lust, anxiety... Anything that gets my adrenaline flowing. And it's usually just as good the second or third or fourth time, so I don't mind re-reading!

(Also, it doesn't hurt that I read pretty fast. If I want to read a book in a day or two, I can, so it's not like I'm investing huge chunks of time by continuously re-reading my library! Okay, so I am a little bit...)

Oh, and as someone else mentioned on here, it's time to re-read the Wheel of Time series again! New book this November, I believe.

I am a ritual re-reader; I have certain books I read every year at certain times of the year. And others that I re-read every couple of years - in fact, on the nine bookcases in my apartment, there are very few books that have only been read once.

I re-read, re-listen and re-watch all the time. I like to read a book and if it was really good, I like to put it away for awhile so that I "forget" some of the story and then re-read it.

I can watch movies over and over and over and over again. There is no limit to how many times I can watch a good movie. Music is worse. I can hear a song about 3-4 times in a row, before I switch it up and I might even listen to it again late in the day. I didn't think this was weird until I was in my car with a friend, and I was doing my song repeat thing, and she was like "didn't we just here this?" I was like "yeah, it was good then and is still good now."

I am a ritual re-reader; I have certain books I read every year at certain times of the year. And others that I re-read every couple of years - in fact, on the nine bookcases in my apartment, there are very few books that have only been read once.
Ever since I was 11, I've read Gone with the Wind yearly. That's 15 times this fall.

Books I really like, I'll re-read - GwtW has significance. That was a chaotic year of my life. It went from being pretty ideal to being turned completely upside down. I could connect to Scarlett and many of the emotions in the book.

Other books I'll read two or three times tops - the Harry Potter books, A Natural History of the Senses (DDR, if you haven't read it, I recommend it - it's sensual and factual), most David Sedaris stories, a collection of poems I stole from my grandma, the list goes on...

Music I like I can listen to over and over again. I've had the Best of Britney and Vampire Weekend's Contra in my car for 2 months. The Britney is for a few songs I like to play in my head when I walk and Contra is to blast with the windows down.

Movies I can't really re-watch without a good length of time in between - a year+, although I did see The Social Network twice in a week and enjoyed parts of it more the second time. But that's an excellent movie (seriously - I've only watched Citizen Kane that often in quick succession and that's b/c I watched the movie then two sets of movie with commentary).

I rarely read a book more than once, but there are a couple.

Every couple of years, I re-read "The Outsiders" again. It's an easy read, and only takes a few hours. It just takes me back to being 11 years old and reading it for the first time. This is right around the time that the movie came out (which I also have, and will throw in the DVD player every few months, too) and of course I had huge crushes on all the guys in that movie!

I read "Gone With The Wind" twice, and I may read it again someday.

Other than that, I really can't think of anything that I have read more than once. I have so many books that I have acquired over the years at various places, yard sales and such, that I could live to be 100 and not read them all. Still, I remember every book I have ever read, and have never picked up the same one twice at a yard sale.

I am definitely a re-reader. I can't even think how many of my books I've re-read over the years, but I'll list some of my favourites, most of which have been read and read again until they are literally falling apart.

Little House on the Prairies series - I can see them from where I am typing and the spines are all taped up. My grannie gave the series to me when I was eight or nine and I've read them countless times over the years. I grew up with those books and each one has a special significance.

Wuthering Heights; Jane Eyre; The Tenant of Wildfell Hall; Villette - These are my favourites by the Bronte sisters and I've read them so many times I practically have them memorized. Wuthering Heights is my favourite, followed closely by The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. My mom read Jane Eyre aloud to my dad and sisters and I on a road trip when I was about eleven, which is where I first came across it, and I've loved it ever since. Villette is a heartbreaker and always makes me cry.

Jane of Lantern Hill and The Blue Castle by L. M. Montgomery have been favourites for years. Both are meaningful because they remind me of my oldest sister, who passed away nine years ago. I have her copy of Jane of Lantern Hill, which is falling to pieces because she read it countless times and so have I. The Blue Castle was her favourite book and she identified strongly with the main character, Valancy. It is a lovely story and for my birthday last year, notyet searched high and low, unbeknownst to me, and gave me a first edition (second run, we think) copy of the book, which I will always treasure.

I am a huge fan of Victoria Holt/Philippa Carr (same author) and have read almost all of her books many, many times. I have a lot of them, all of which I picked up at book sales at the library or sales that benefited the local orchestra. I started reading her books as a teenager, after my sister recommended them, and I’ve been a fan ever since. They’re a great comfort read.

I love, love, LOVE The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins and have read it many times. It is a favourite of my mom’s too.

I have practically memorized all the Sherlock Holmes stories. They never get old.

My copy of The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy is getting rather weathered. lol

There are more, but I’ll stop for now.

Yes, sure do. I've read GWTW too many times to count.

Also, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith, and anything by Mark Twain or O' Henry.
