I'm in the middle of "The Hour I First Believed" by Wally Lamb. Fiction, which is my preference (I like the escapism of it).

It's terrific. He's terrific!! I'm enjoying it so much.

What are you reading right now? Would you recommend it?

Ooh, Lori, that is on my "to read list." I have read another of his books and really liked it.

About to start my book club book "City of Thieves" by David Benioff. In the car I have Stroke of Insight on audio about a researcher that had a stroke that changed her from a right brained to left brained (or vice-versa, haven't started yet) and a James Patterson for pure suspense and fun. I usually have a couple going at one time.

Let us know when you finish the Wally Lamb book.

One of my best friends is reading Stroke of Insight. She's really inspired by it. She's going to loan it to me when she's done.

Wally Lamb is my favorite author, pretty much. He's only written a few books but they're amazing. "I Know This Much Is True" I didn't care for too much, but "She's Come Undone" is my absolute favorite book. It's amazing how authentically he writes in the female voice. If you haven't read that one I really recommend it!

I haven't read "She's Come Undone" so thanks for the tip. I would also like to read a book (I think it is short stories) by the women in prison he taught writing to. Saw a reading on CSPAN or BookTV and was really moved with some of the readings by some of the family members of the writers.

It is a shame there is not more time to read.

I just finished The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards whichwas good, but I had a hard time getting throughit for some reason. I'm now a little way intoThe White Tigerby Aravind Adiga and I'm enjoying it so far...the way the story is being told is interesting and I'm hooked.

I have a few on my shelf waiting to be read....The Glass Castle and Three Cups of Tea and a few others. Now just to find a bit more time to read!

Okay, haven't been reading anything of major importance. But I read two books recently that were quick and enjoyable. Also offered some personal insight, just cuz I started daydreaming mid read. 1. How to lose your ass and regain your life - Kirstie Alley (yeah she's gained again) 2. Pull of the Moon - Elizabeth Berg (book about a woman going thru menopause who leaves home one day with no destination in mind).

Currently reading Chasing Harry Winston. I'd heard it was good...and funny, but its just a spin-off of Sex and the City if you ask me.

Definitely LOVED She's Come Undone. Excellent book. Also, for those who love a psychological/mind-thriller, I'd suggest The Raw Shark Texts by Stephen Hall. Fascinating read - unlike anything you've ever read before.

I just finished Three Cups of Tea. Wow! The story was so inspiring. It's had me wondering how I can make a difference in my little corner of the world.

I read Three Cups of Tea as well and found it really inspiring. It does show what one person can do if we put our hearts and minds into something. A friend of mine went to China for 2 years because of her husband's job. She then was very touched with compassion at the site of seeing grandparents or parents in a landfill trying to find things to burn in their homes to stay warm, and use their money for food. Now, 12 years later, she has an orphanage, a couple of hundred sponsor children, a couple of different industries, that are done by the chinese people, to help support themselves, and she adopted a boy, who is now on his way to Yale!! It is quite amazing. It shows what any of us can do if we just follow our hearts and respond with creativity and compassion. It is taking that first step and then allowing whatever is going to happen, happen!

I just finished "The Mermaid Chair" by Sue Monk Kidd - it was good, entertaining and well written.

Sounds like I should check out "Three Cups of Tea", I can always use a little inspiration!
