Carrie by Stephen King
Go Ask Alice by Anonymous (one of the most powerful books I have ever read)
Recipes for Disaster by Crimethinc (theories of Social Revolution)
1984 by George Orwell
Atlas Shrugged by Anne Raynd (I disagree with everything she said, but I like how she structured her argument)
We by Yevgeny Zamyatin (the basis for many of the dystopian novels of the 20th century)
I know its cheap to say this, and the book isn't finished yet, but my idea of how it will end up:
Killer of Killers by me

My favorite author is John Saul. I've read every single one of his books...I wait each year for his new book. I also usually love Jodi Picoult. My Sister's Keeper was a great book. I love, love, love The Wedding by Nicolas Sparks...the most romantical book I've ever read (and I'm not romantic at all!!) The Shack was an amazing book...it really made me think. The Monkeewrench books are really good too. I keep looking for a new one of their books to come out. Oh! The Friday Night Knitting Club!!! I soooo got into the characters!!! Loved that book! Hated for it to end!!

Some I *haven't* already mentioned on a books thread...

Thraxas by Martin Scott. Ancient Latin, detectives, magic, and beer. Most definitely beer. Test thy sense of humor, plebian!
Legend by David Gemmel. And the later Waylader by the same. Stories for those of us who’re all growed up!
The Lost Fleet series by Jack Campbell. Spaceships, fleet actions, and love triangles oh my!
The Color of Magic by Terry Pratchett. Can you handle the puns? Can you?
Cork O’Conner series by William Kent Krueger. Suspense, semi-detective fiction. Good character progression so far.
And of course, whatever it is I am reading now: Gridlinked by Neal Asher. cyberpunk!

Not the most erudite of collections, but this is my popcorn-and-chocolate pure pleasure list. My textbooks I like because they edify, but do not necessarily love the same way… *grin*
