What book do you wish you had written, and why?

"Like Water for Chocolate" by Laura Esquivel because of the sheer creativity of the story. Also, because it was such an unusual, spectacular love story as well as a "cookbook" of sorts. I thought it was brilliant to intersperse recipes from the story throughout the pages of the book itself. Wish I had thought of something like that!

James Joyce's Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man because if I did I wouldn't still be trying to unravel all its references and allusions. But that is part of the fun I suppose.

Anything Guy Gavriel Kay's written. He's exactly the kind of writer I not only enjoy reading, but that I desire to be.

She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb. It took me forever to believe a guy wrote that because of how well it got inside the inner thoughts of a girl to a woman. Following her from 8 to 30. I read it years ago and it's about time for a re-read and a new persepective on it.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. Favorite Author and Favorite book. Written several hundred years ago and people still are talking about it.

That was a great book. I read it about a year ago and got my mom into it. Then she had to get her own copy and read it. Afterwards I read Sense and Sensibility, that one took me a little longer to get into, but I also enjoyed it.

Thanks for proving the point I made in my post. She's (Austen) great after all these years!
