Lovely Bobolink sound, as they pirouette around; of southbound Geese calling to each other so high, you strain to find their V in the sky; the pleasant, sweet, soft call of Bluebirds in Spring and Fall; the "Who cooks for you?" of the Barred Owl, too; the lilting, haunting, beautiful call of the little Screech Owl, but that's not all; one that I will never know and neither will you, distinctive notes of male Passenger Pigeon true.

I try to stay away from the entertainment sections of appliance stores. They, probably, have some good TV displays there, but those things are not for me. Oh, is this box for something else?

My favorite that I had to heed was, The Trap, which starred Oliver Reed; as to some others, there was Seven Brides for Seven Brothers; another of note was the great Showboat; a runner-up for best was, Once upon a Time in the West; Sound of Music and the Big Sky are enough to say for such as I.

Gary Moulton’s version of the Lewis and Clark Journals; The Complete Paddler by David Miller, subtitled, Kayaking the DaVinci Code from the headwaters to the mouth. Hey, just trying to slip in a little upgrade here. So OK, it’s really the Missouri River, not that “code”; Fastnet Force Ten; A Sand County Almanac.
