About Me

    About Me

A curious introvert. I've been around the world on mission trips and for work, but most weekends I prefer to sit home with my cats, a cup of coffee and a good book. I've worked as an Interpreter for the deaf in public schools, a robotics programmer, and a janitor. I absolutely hated English in school but now I write (one book of poetry finished and one fantasy novel looking for a publisher/agent.) I'm not good at creating art but I do appreciate it. I'm either a pessimist who smiles a lot or a disillusioned optimist. Or maybe I'm just confused, but at least I'm happy.... :) Um... not sure if they'll let me post links to other sites here, but I'll give it a try - check out my poetry (you'll have to copy/paste - there's a free preview but you have to be a (free) site member to see it.): http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/fire-and-souls/2177579

    Music

Anything with beautiful vocals and/or intelligent lyrics, or no lyrics at all but beautiful instruments.
A few of my favorites are Norah Jones, Evanescence, Bond, and Cowboy Junkies.
Stream of Passion deserves a category all to themselves. :)

    TV Shows

    Don't watch TV

    Movies

I gravitate toward sad stories, and stories of redemption, and stories that make you think. Some of my favorites are:
Things To Do in Denver When You're Dead, Sling Blade, and 12 Monkeys.

    Books

The Bible. Seriously. I read it regularly, not just talk about it being my 'favorite.' I even make some effort to follow it.

The Problem of Pain (CS Lewis), The Silmarillion (Tolkien), Memory Sorrow and Thorn (Tad Williams), The Life of Pi (Yann Martel), Les Miserables & Notre Dame de Paris (Victor Hugo)

    Quotes

How happy is the blameless vestal's lot
The world forgetting, by the world forgot
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
Each prayer accepted, and each wish resigned
