Isn't Britney the second coming of Janis Joplin?

The thought of this, for me, induces vomiting!

Janis will be resurrected on the Final Day to do battle with Britney the anti-Janis in Port Arther, Texas. BTW, this will happen right after we all drink the pink lemonade. I am still in the process of calculating that date that this will happen.....I'm sure I will eventually give up and just make one up.

How about in 2012, the day before Quetzalcoatl's second coming... let that sit in the "end of the world" gangs craw...

They have been picking dates for the end of the world since people created the calendar and it doesn't matter to the people who believe in this carp that they are wrong every time. There is alwys someone writing a book to take advantage of ignorant people,

And it usually seems to accompany any major increase in large-scale social "alienation". Like when everything (technology, values, roles, economy, religion, etc.) is starting to feel so "unglued" that it's all just gonna go to hell in a handbasket at any moment. And of course only the "chosen/enlightened/faithful few" will survive!

So whatcha think "dwreese"... as part of your new cult, maybe we try to venerate Britney as our "holy mother" to renew the gene pool after "The Big One"...?

Considering that she is an awful mother to her two kinds, I think we should choose someone else. Mother Mary has lots of her own holy cults. But Mother Britney would certainly lead her followers into hell.

According to Wiki it was I. Windslow Ayer who first used "to hell in a handbasket" in 1865, talking about some civil war thing.

Hooray for Old Ladies!

I like your new avatar, Sassafras. And I think you should alternate between that one and a nicely cropped version of your "electric kitty" painting (depending on your mood of course)!

BTW, reminds me of that organization, the Red Hat Society, founded for women over 50, and named after that poem by By Jenny Joseph, When I Am an Old Woman I Shall Wear Purple:

When I am an old woman, I shall wear purple
with a red hat that doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
and satin candles, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I am tired
and gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
and run my stick along the public railings
and make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
and pick the flowers in other people's gardens
and learn to spit.
*
You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
and eat three pounds of sausages at a go
or only bread and pickles for a week
and hoard pens and pencils and beer nuts and things in boxes.
*
But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.
