Hello. Good evening. Nice cool-ish Saturday night here. I was roaming the local farmer's market today (theyre very tolerant of large, blue birds with humongus beaks) and I came across something sort of lovely from my childhood. Chestnuts.

I remember eating them baked or roasted when I was small, and even raw, they're quite mild and appealing. I bought a sackful off the Mennonite lady selling them. Now I think Im going to make roasting them in the fire-place a new tradition round me house. My mother loves them also, and cannot get out as she used to. Going to have to make another nut-run soon I expect.

So any-who. What sorts of Thanksgiving traditions do you all follow? UK-ers, sing out. You-all must be grateful to be rid of us colonists, even after 220 years. Right?

Mine are pretty much the usual traditions, though I do go to my friend's house for Thanksgiving and Christmas now, since family is out of town. We call it "The Land of Misfit Toys" for the holidays because it's her family and any other singles with nowhere else to go. A very wide assortment of people. We really have a blast, and there's usually at least one obnoxious and unruly friend or relative that we can all talk about later!

You roast fowl?!?! Isn't that cannibalism? And whose fingers are in the potatoes?

lafffffffffffffffsss..I knewww you would be provoked into commenting!

Yes. I am a closet cannibal. The potatoes willingly gave up their fingers, however.

I keep my therapist very, very busy.

I can post my infamous banana cream pie with macadamia nut crust on another thread..

Its the besterest pie ever. It does have alot of ingredients, so if you live in the jungle you'd better begin gathering, very very far ahead!

I was born in Romania and we never knew about Thanksgiving. I became American Citizen on Thanksgiving, and every year, on Thanksgiving, I go skiing at Wolf Creek Pass, celebrating the freedom. It's been 25 years.
