What do you need the trough floater thingie for anyway?

To switch on the water supply when the trough water level declines to a certain point, and switch it off when the water level has risen enough.

So that A) I don't have to keep running outside on hot days to make sure they have water; or conversely B) If I leave the hose running so they don't run out of water, I create a lake which is just another mosquito playground. The floater has the hose attached and sits in the trough so that once they drink enough to lower the water level below the floater, it opens up the little valve and the water fills the trough back up.

Snicker snort snort.

I have had days like that!! Sometimes they turn into weeks or months.

Just don't forget to pick up the hose when you mow! Geysers would essue.

We used to have a above ground hose for the cows on pasture here. Number of years ago I plowed it in on the cheap myself. Need to blow it out every fall but it still is working. Now the guy who is renting the pasture wanted 110 for his fencer so back to rolling something up everytime we mow. Oh well.

Still beats a 5 gallon bucket.
Mow? What mow? I haven't mowed all year. That's the horses' job.

Ow. Is that seriously all you said when you got zapped?
It's not a very strong zap right now. There's a branch down on the fence. I can't believe it's even hot at all, but it is. Still playing phone tag with the guy who's gonna take care of the cedar branch, I'll have him take off the branch that's playing footsie with the fence at the same time.

Floater thingie keeps the water in the tank/trough at a set level. This way Fino's critters always have water and she doesn't have to stand there with a hose to fill the trough every day filling it. And hopefully it won't over flow. At least till crazy horse knocks it off the tank or breaks the floater thingie.
Crazy Horse isn't the one with the hose fetish, that's Umo. But he only plays with the hose if the trough is empty. One hopes this will solve that problem.....

That was definitely good for a laugh, Fino. Been there and done that (with the hoses). When I water my acre I get tired of trecking across the yard so i just bought a 100' hose, a couple new sprinklers and a y connector and realized i needed one more piece of hose after i got everything home. Ackh!! I was not trecking back to the store which is a good 20 m inutes to half hour away. I'm just glad I don't have to worry about horses and troughs and floats. I leave all that up to my sister.
