Ugh, don't get me started on the inadequacy of our education system. I think colleges and universities allow too many people to graduate (as well as admit too many). We really need to raise standards across the board.


We also need our high schools to start cracking the whip a lot more on fundamental things like English and Math. I can't count the number of papers I grade that have numerous grammar and spelling errors, and if I count off for that sort of thing, my students rate me lower because I'm not teaching an English class. I'm sorry, but by the time you're in college, if you can't form a coherent sentence on a piece of paper, you really don't deserve to graduate regardless of anything else you might have achieved. This is something so simple and basic that everyone should be able to do it without even thinking about it. Okay, my rant's done.
