we've all heard of the 5 second rule, but what about foods that have expired, or have been left out on the counter for a while? what's the most flagrant vilolation of the 5 second rule, or food expiration date you've made?

me? i've drank milk (skim) 2 weeks post expiration. i've also had pizza that had been sitting on my counter for at least 3 days. also, years ago, i was working at a quick oil change facility, under a car and dropped my sammich on the grates which i stood. i simply picked off the bread that had the most noticeable chunks of grease on it and continued with lunch.

I grabbed something of unknown origin from the back of a friend's refrigerator. It was a marbled brown-green-pink color and smelt vaguely like meat...or possibly spinach.

I burped quite a bit, but had no other lingering effects. Not even a "POW!" (see Emme's thread)

I'm kind of famous for eating long expired yogurt. I mean, really, what can happen to yogurt? It gets more sour? As long as nothing really noticeable is growing on it, it's fair game.

I grew up in a fairly big family and there was always a stash of mystery stuff in the freezer that was unrecognizeable. Since we weren't wealthy, we ate that stuff too. I think it was probably mostly badly freezer burned meat, but what the heck. We all lived. We might be demented, but we lived.

Well, I'm not famous for eating it, but I can tell you how to get rid of it. Hold your finger on the button that allows the light inside the fridge to come on. Totally dark except things that are green . . . and glowing. Grab 'em and toss.

I am, however, famous for allowing things to grow in my fridge.
