O.K. What's up with this. Most if not all of my matches have this picked as a must have.
Family life.... must be commited to family etc.

Thanks for your insight!

Your profile lists the following activities:

Music, theater, comedy, remodeling my home, water activities, soccer and anything my son does

"Anything my son does" is called family life! If you have a dictionary look the word "family" up.
Or google "family life" + definition.

Most women say the same thing on their profiles.
"Most like family" or "be committed to family life." It's the opposite of being single.

That's what I mean. It's kind of a given. I'm devoted to my family, friends etc.
I guess maybe some women aren't as family motivated? Workaholics?
I mean you are on E to find a partner. Wouldn't that make you want to be devoted to a family. Even if it were only two people?

It's a given to YOU but not to all women. You just answered your own question. Yes many men don't want those so called "independent" non family oriented women. You should talk to those women who view men as furniture and ask them:

I would like to point out that some folks ARE just looking for companions.
I once mistook that to mean wanting family.
HUGE error.
He never wanted children.
He's not close to his parents and siblings.
He found it really strange how close I am with mine.
It was ALWAYS a point of contention.
