I've gone on a couple of dates with this guy, and have made it to date 3, and some good kissing. We've been talking online back and forth for a couple of weeks now, and am not sure where this is going. Appearantly, neither is he. On our last outing, he asked me what "this" is . . . are we dating or just friends . . .

Should I read into him having to ask - it kind of threw me off? I know that it could be that he just wants to make sure that we are on the same page, but when I asked him if he kisses or touches/hold his friends like he does me, he didn't really answer - just kissed me. what am I to think?

Why do you need to know "what this is" and "where this is going" ? Can't you just enjoy what you and he are experiencing and let things just take their natural course?
Does everything you do have to have an analysed explanation and pre-set goals, expectations, and exit strategies? Save those things for your business transactions and let romance grow (or contract) freely.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

How do you feel about him? Where do you want it to go? I believe he's wonderring if you two are lovers or are you going to be friends, maybe with fringe benefits? Do you feel any romantic sparks for him? As one replyer said, he's taking his cues from you. But, you should ask yourself about your feelings, and if they're right, go ahead for romance, if not? Personally, I feel you need more time together to decide, but, he did give you an ultimatum, which isn't right for either of you at this point. If he isn't willing to wait, let him go, he wasn't meant for you. If he does wait, then he has respect and consideration for you, which is what you want from any man. I'm not talking love right now because it's too early in the relationship for it. Hope this helps. Take care, Suzie

I'm sorry. I reread the OP and I can't find anywhere where this guy gave her an ultimatum. He just asked her a question; what are we to each other. Ultimatum? Hmmmmm. Where? Isn't willing to wait? Where did you read that? Are you sure you're not writing about an experience you had instead of the OPs?

If your non-verbal cues are such that he feels more deeply for you than you do at the moment, I believe that you should start asking some long range questions, likes & dislikes and observe your own body language. Are you a bit defensive? Go for it and take a risk! It could be the person for whom you've been looking.
