Hope this question within the acceptable standard of our group

Curious me wonders I've heard two conflicting opinions on red heads: One said that red heads have higher tolerance of pain, the other said red heads are very sensitive to pain.

Which one is true?

One was from actual redhead, she said something (unrelated to sex), that redhead are sensitive to pain, need more pain medication when going to a dentist or something.

Another one from a guy....I don't know where he got his info from and frankly I'd rather not know lol.

I love Wikipedia.

There is little or no evidence to support the belief that people with red hair have a higher chance than people with other hair colours to hemorrhage or suffer other bleeding complications.[32][33] One study, however, reports a link between red hair and a higher rate of bruising.[33]
In people with red hair, the cells producing skin and hair pigments have mutated MC1R genes. Researchers have found that the MC1R mutation triggers the excess release of Pheomelanin, the hormone that stimulates melanocytes and Pheomelanin also stimulates a brain receptor related to pain sensitivity.[34]
Two studies have demonstrated that people with red hair have differential sensitivity to pain compared to people with other hair colours. One study found that people with red hair are more sensitive to thermal pain (associated with naturally occurring low vitamin K levels)[35], while another study concluded that redheads are less sensitive to pain from electrical stimuli.[citation needed][vague]
Researchers have found that people with red hair require greater amounts of anesthetic, however this is controversial and other research publications have concluded that women with naturally red hair require less of the painkiller pentazocine than do either women of other hair colours or men of any hair colour. A study showed women with red hair had a greater analgesic response to that particular pain medication than men.[36] A follow-up study by the same group showed that men and women with red hair had a greater analgesic response to morphine-6-glucuronide.[37]

Interesting! Who knew.

I want to know why you want to know about Redheads and Pain? Are you whip-shopping or something?

Ahh no redheads for some reason are more resistant to anesthesia. I work for anesthesiologists.

one time i was under the Dr. said i started talking and nearly scared the nurse to death.

the other time after the surgery i opened my eyes, clearly declared "I feel fine!" then went back out.

I am pretty sure it is resistant, they do adjust for natural redheads. Came up at a Christmas party.
