I'll start off with a quote. The person who answers correctly gets to pick a new quote. Quotes may come from anywhere in the book but MUST include dialogue.

I think Elizabeth Bennet says it to her aunt Mrs GardinerafterWickham's engagement becomes public.


Assuming I'm right, my quote is "If he had had any compasssion for me,' cried her husband impatiently,'he would not have danced half as much! For God's sake, say no more of his partners. Oh! that he had sprained his ankle in the first dance!"

Hi Immerito-Darcy says to Bingley chiding him for his "boast" that when he is in the country he loves it, but when he is in the city he loves the city. He says that if he were motivated, he would problablly have his bags packed overnight and leave Netherfield for London post haste. Darcy states the ability to do anything hastily is generally a disguised boast, and a hastily written letter, sloppy and ill written or illegible, or a sudden move, a burden to servants and acquaintances is not anything to be proud of, but that the ability to do anything quickly is generally prized by the individual regardless of whether the job is well down or hastilyor poorlyaccomplished.

That quote is from the novel Emma; Miss Bates says the former quote, and Emma the latter. Since this is a P&P trivia contest, do you have another Pride and Prejudice quote?

It is Jane speaking to Elizabeth about what Darcy dislosed regarding Wickham's true character (not all of it, not some personal particulars, that comes later. They are trying to decide whether to make his character more generally known, so that Wickham would not victimize any ot the townsfolk.


"Would you believe it,___,that when he went to town last November,he really loved me, and nothing but a pursuasion of my being indifferent, wouuld have prevented his coming down again!"


Why is this just a P&P contest, I know all her novels front to back, and we are the only two participating!
