I want to do 5 but I keep only doing 4 and then beating myself up over it.

So, I'm going to shoot for 4 and say I have to do some other form of exercise on the days I DON'T go to the gym: like,

-take the stairs at work 3x/day or more,

or

-go for a half hour brisk walk or a 2+ hour leisure walk (like shopping!

or

-watch Shimmy (on Fit TV, I DVR it every week) at home and do some bellydancing for a half hour (bellydancing really works your core!)

or

-if I have access to a pool, do a half hour of water aerobics....it's refreshing and doesn't FEEL like exercise (even though it is). I use these paddles which are small and flat and travel really well: Water Gear Aquaflex Paddles at SwimOutlet.com

How about you? Are you going as often as you want to? Do you strive for exercise even on the days you don't go to the gym?

3 days/week on a good week (plus walking on the weekends). Combo of treadmills and strength training. I used to add weights before my shoulder/neck injury, but will add them again once I'm healed up.

2 days/week on average day and I do walk daily (20 minutes) with my walking partner around the complex.

I don't think it's enough to really make a huge difference. Ideally I want to do 4 days week of mixture of strength/aerobics/jogging.

I have lost one pant size though

ok i have a silly question though (guys can probably chime in too).

Say one wears a size 36 pants...decent fit without belt...then now, he can still wears 36, but it's quite loose and require a belt...can try fitting into maybe a new 34 (not the one that have shrunk and gone through the dryer 10 times). Would that person be considered a 34? or a 36?

I'm going 3 times a week right now. Twice a week I do the Cybex Arc Trainer (type of elliptical) for an hour and then do about 25 minutes of weight training, and then on the 3rd day I run for an hour. One day a week I do basketball practice where we run full court for about an hour and a half. During the off season I shoot basketball and run wind sprints for that day. The other 3 days I do things at home that equal at least an hour of aerobic training.

To answer PY-2's question about pant sizes I know what you mean. My jeans are a 32, and I need a belt. I could go out and buy some 31's and fit into them so I consider myself a 31.
