For those of us who aren't into the gym or a structured workout routine, what are some activities we can engage in to get us out and moving?
Hiking is great

Sports, whether casually or as part of a league

Dancing, either with lessons or just alone in your living room with the music blaring for a half hour or so a day

What else?

I usually only get to the gym 4 times a week so that means the other 3 days I have to find something else to do. Currently I'm doing a punching bag for about an hour on one day, doing some light lifting with a home gym in the garage while mixing in jumping rope between sets, and doing different things on the third day such as maybe running in my neighborhood or some kind of homemade routine in my living room using one of those exercise bands.

The thing that most of these have in common is that I do them while watching something on TV. This really helps the time go by faster.

As a side note I hear a lot of people saying they don't have time to exercise, but I would venture that most of those watch at least 1 hour of TV a day, and they could find things to do while watching TV and get in a good hour of exercise.

I'm going to start taking a boxing class this weekend! I'm excited. I hear it's a great workout and I'm hoping it will let me safely get out some pent up aggressions

I do think you have to mix things up for the sake of variety and not getting bored, but it also helps to try different things as a part of your routine so your body doesn't get too used to one thing.

I mentioned in another thread that I wanted to get a rowing machine. That would be a great thing you could do at home.

Exhibit A:
Amazon.com: Stationary Bike Pedal Exerciser - Fully Assembled: Health & Personal Care

I often thought of getting one of those before I just sucked it up and joined a gym instead!

Since then I've considered getting one of them for under my desk at work....but I think it might be somehow disruptive to my co-workers (and perhaps my own productivity!)

I used to do muy thai and jiu jitsu. Those were fun. Too bad the coach left. I may start doing the jiu jitsu again.
