I hate to tell you, gang, but at least a few scientists think that HotTeas may not be really good for you:

BBC NEWS | Health | Steaming hot tea linked to cancer

We might be best served by sticking to really, really warm teas instead. I've a mug with no handle: not 'cos it broke off, but because it was made that way. I figure if it is too hot for me to hold the mug, it is too hot for me to drink from it.

Anyway, my HotTea is 1300 miles away. At least we have really good Scrabble games, now that we have a really good Scrabble game...

I always get the mugs with handles at Chez CCM -- do you think he's trying to tell me something?

And as for the Scrabble -- it is perfection. Can't wait to play tonight!

Actually, drinking anything very hot (not just hot tea) that causes irritation in your throat can be cause for oesophageal cancer . . . and alcohol and carbonated drinks have also been linked to oesophageal cancer.

Yes, of course. I want you to be safe. The handled mugs have thinner walls, so the contents must be a bit cooler for you to be able to grasp the body of the mug, while the handle allows you to safely carry the mug. So, the handled mugs, if used properly, are even safer than is the handle-less mug, which is a real pain, literally, to carry into my office right after filling.

I have to say, the first time I wandered out into your kitchen about an hour or so after you'd gone out to 'do things in the world', half awake and definitely in need of something warm -- you 'sealed' your fate when my eyes focused upon the thermos of hot water (labeled even!!) so that I could have morning tea.
