Is the remnant of Israel still God's inheritance, or is it today's Christian? Has the Jewish nation fallen so far from God, that she has lost favor with Him forever? Is it possible for the Gentiles to replace the Jews?

Please present all comments and ideas with Bilbical Scriptures.

Read Romans 9-11. Paul talks how God allowed the Gentiles to be saved to provoke the Jews to jealousy. He talks how the natural branches (the Jews) were broken off and the wild branches (the Gentiles) were graft in, but that He is able to graft the natural branches in again. He has allowed the Jews eyes to be blinded to the truth of Jesus as the Messiah while many Gentiles eyes are being opened. In Romans 11:26 he says that all Israel shall be saved. When the "fullness of the Gentiles be come in" (Romans 11:25) the trumpet will sound and Christ will retrieve His bride from the earth (1 Thessalonians 4: 16-17). Then the witnesses will come and preach the gospel in Jerusalem. I know that many passionately believe that NO gentiles will be saved during the tribulation because God will be turned back to the Jews and they have Bible that they base that belief on. I've also heard it preached that Gentiles will be saved because if all the Jews are saved, who are the witnesses preaching to for the rest of the time? I tend to fall in the category of those that believe that currently God is turned towards the Gentiles, but a few Jews are still saved; I believe that during the tribulation, God's main focus will be on the Jews but a few Gentiles- those who haven't taken the Mark of the Beast- will be saved.

Gentiles will never replace the Jews. They are the natural branches, but we can spiritually be adopted into God's family, becoming His child because we chose to believe in Him not just because of our genetic nationality. Adopted children are very special to their parents too, even if they have "natural" children.

Well stated. I like what you said.

Personally, I believe I get the best of both worlds. I am considered a Jew because my mother was a Jew even though my father was a gentile. Yet I was never raised in Jewish traditions although now, I think it would be interesting to know a lot more about the Jewish heritage. I did receive the Lord as my Savior at the age of 8. That was when I became a "completed" Jew.

I believe through our Sunday p.m. services studying the book of Revelations that there will be post-rapture salvation on both sides during Tribulation and the Great Tribulation. However the last 3.5 years (Great Tribulation) will see fewer salvations.

A great book to read is "The Search" by Lorna Simcox. It's insightful how she talks about the rift between the Jews and the Gentiles and why it is difficult to breach the wall between the two. She also adds in ways that she was able to "think" about the problems in Judaism today with a thought process in hoping our good outweighs our evil so that we can go to heaven.

Jenn,

I tried to reply this weekend, but I kept getting un-logged in.

I have another friend who considers herself Jewish since her mother was Jewish. I find that very interesting since in most societies children are given their father's heritage.

How very special to be one of God's chosen people!

I think the emphasis is placed on the woman because Rehab was not Jewish but was linked in the kings of Israel's lineage. So when we get to Joseph (Jesus' step-dad,) the male is not as high a qualifier as the woman. I think it's Mary's lineage that is more pure. While many Jews do not believe in Jesus as Messiah, the Gentiles acknowledge Him and the emphasis is placed on the woman because Jesus was not born of man's seed. Of course, that's just a theory I have and I would have to research it further once I get some time to do so.

It is very special, but it is also a burden because my heart aches for the Jews who do not understand that Jesus is Messiah. Just because the Jews are God's chosen people doesn't give them forgiveness for rejecting His Son. That's my burden.
