Many lookers, only a few have communicated. Of those, most became flat and boring almost immediately, so I closed the matches. Please provide constructive feedback.

Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
I have always been blessed with Wonderful friends. I would have to say my best friend (since I was 9) Ondreea, because she was able to show me that I am a lovable person. She taught me much about imagination and closeness and we learned together about forgiveness and strong friendship. She is still one of my rocks.

What is the most important quality that you are looking for in another person?

That you are worthy of my respect. The man who will win my heart will be one who I can respect, admire, adore. Not that we all do not have faults, mind you.
Overall, however, I respect a man who knows his mind, is kind, tries hard at everything he does, and does not make excuses. A man who appreciates communication and exudes tenderness toward me.

Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?
Especially at work, and with close friends, I am the Ray O'Sunshine. I always greet everyone with a smile. I am upbeat and energetic. People notice that I am smart and not afraid to be so. I love to talk and share what I know. Love to teach. I think people tend to find me approachable and interesting. I also have a huge laugh!

What is the ONE thing that people DON'T notice about you right away that you WISH they WOULD?
That, although I am friendly and outgoing to everyone, especially in my work, I also am interested in getting to know people on a deeper level. I have a few acquaintances who I have formed friendships with, and many more who I wish would slow down enough to see that I am really interested in getting to know who they are.

What are five things that you "can't live without?"
My family
Bubble Baths
Long walks/exercise
Someone to talk to
My cooking tools

Describe the last book that you read and enjoyed. What was it about? What did you like most about it?

I always have several going at once. I read a lot of cooking/foodie magazines and love to read cookbooks. Read history, biography, survivalist stuff. Informational books on subjects I desire to learn more about. I do a lot of reference reading, rather than reading books straight through. Not a lot of fiction.
The last I finished? It was Hazlitt's book, Economics in One Lesson. I loved his very simple examples and his common-sense take on economics. Right now I am reading both "Dress Codes" by Noelle Howey, about growing up with a crossdressing father, and "Declaration" about the era of the Declaration of Independence.

Is there any additional information you would like your matches to know about you?

I am a romantic person. I crave closeness and am very giving. I have learned much about what makes me tick, what "me" in the right relationship looks and feels like. I'd like to find that person with whom I am at my best.

What are you most passionate about?
LIFE!!! My family, my friends, finding the person who I can share my life, my interests and my time with. I am Passionate about food and cooking, politics and history, being outdoors, teaching and about people and writing and learning. I am a bit of a whirlwind, and require someone who can keep up!

What are the THREE things for which you are MOST thankful?

My family, for the time I am able to spend with them, the comfort and love we share, and how we help each other to grow.
Living everyday. Being an upbeat and friendly person who brings a smile to others. The hope that I will find the person who sees me as I am and loves me for my spirit, passion and joy.
All of the things in my life that comfort and inspire me: music, writing, family, friends, books, the outdoors, learning new things. Challenges and the opportunity to grow.

The four things your friends say about you are:
Intelligent
Perceptive
Articulate
Genuine

What are three of my best life skills?

Using humor to make friends laugh
Maintaining an organized life
Raising and/or caring for children

How do you typically spend your leisure time?
Depends on the day...
I enjoy long walks (I never get tired!), bicycling, the beach, hiking, camping, spending time with friends and family. I like concerts and dancing, farmers' markets and coffeehouses and hanging out. I love the lake and the pool and being outside. LOVE the Sun!
I cook for fun. I take my kids on adventures (bike rides, to the park or the movies) as often as I am able, but I also love sitting and playing a board game with them.
I like to read and the music is always on around me! LOVE campfires and naps and baths. I like my warm bed.
I'd like to find the man who will love to do all of the above with a unique lady!

While generally a very well written , interesting profile....it is a bit repetitious, long-winded and overly preachy.

People will first look at your.... hopefully... good quality recent face and body pics...then decide to read the profile...but this is so overly verbose...it could be a major turn-off.

With some rethinking /rewording and most importantly....a lot of editing and coming to a conversational , not preachy / lecturing tone..this could be an excellent profile..

Thanks for the reply, Wiseman.

Eek. Preachy, really? I know I am verbose, wordy...if that's a part of who I am, however, should I hide that, lure 'em in, then spring "me" on the poor, unsuspecting guy? I dunno.

Perhaps I should hire an editor....a PR firm...followed by a makeup and fashion team, a photographer, etc...

This is SOOO hard!

(all intended in the best of humour...)

Hi,

It is always a good idea to have profiles being reviewed, and you will get every kind of feedback, and it is mostly very useful. SO please take all comments the way they were meant to be, and that is to help you have a better profile.

I founds it too wordy ... Too long. I couldn't read the whole thing to be honest.

You lost me at the qualities you are looking for, I went, what, I need to be worthy of your respect ? What kind of a quality is that ? I have no idea what you find respectable, which later you sort of touch on.

"I respect a man who knows his mind,
I do not know what this exactly means

is kind,
Well, unkind is sort of a deal breaker ... I would expect that from ANYONE

tries hard at everything he does,
Ok, that is a good quality to look for
and does not make excuses.
Ok, I can understand that, but it is a negative thing to write, implies some baggage
A man who appreciates communication and exudes tenderness toward me."
Not so sure I would write the exude tenderness toward you part. Goes without saying if they like you.

These are just my first reactions as I started to read it. And then I was, ok, too much to read the rest when she doesn't really exactly know what she wants.

Do not let this discourage you though, it is just feedback from one person. I wanted to share exactly what went through "MY" mind.

And I will add, I am dreading asking for a review of MY own profile. But I will do it, it takes a lot of courage to do this. Some of us (not me) are really good at this stuff. You will get excellent advice ! And good luck.

First off...I agree with goomph 100%....and had the same reaction...just too much to bother reading.

Conciseness is a sign of intelligence, because someone can formulate meaningful ideas properly and express them with nail on the head accuracy.

Perhaps you pride yourself on wordiness.... but if my eyes hurt wading through this ...I know my ears would hurt after 10 min. on a date.

It isn't all that hard.....just edit, edit, edit and think before you write to say something meaningful to the reader..... Again... these are impressions of the profile that is written here...not you....Good Luck...
I know I am verbose, wordy...if that's a part of who I am, however, should I hide that, lure 'em in, then spring "me" on the poor, unsuspecting guy

First WELCOME!
Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
I have always been blessed with Wonderful friends. I would have to say my best friend (since I was 9) Ondreea, because she was able to show me that I am a lovable person--THIS is baggagey and tends to indicate low self estemm. She taught me much about imagination and closeness and we learned together about forgiveness and strong friendship. She is still one of my rocks.

Good answer generally but too long. Two sentences max.

What is the most important quality that you are looking for in another person?
That you are worthy of my respect. The man who will win my heart will be one who I can respect, admire, adore. Not that we all do not have faults, mind you. This does sound judgmental/preachy. Like you met a lot of men/people who aren't up to your standards.

[DELETE: Overall, however,] I respect a man who knows his mind, is kind, tries hard at everything he does, and does not make excuses. A man who appreciates communication and exudes tenderness toward me.

To me, this sounds like you are a lot of work. Sorry. I mean tries hard at EVERYTHING? really?

Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?
Especially at work, and with close friends, I am the Ray O'Sunshine. I always greet everyone with a smile. I am upbeat and energetic. People notice that I am smart and not afraid to be so. I love to talk and share what I know. Love to teach. This love to teach/talk/share may sound overwhelming to guys and along with what is above like you are always trying to "fix" people/men/things to make them better/better/best.... I think people tend to find me approachable and interesting. I also have a huge laugh!

What is the ONE thing that people DON'T notice about you right away that you WISH they WOULD?
That, although I am friendly and outgoing to everyone (repeat from above), especially in my work, I also am interested in getting to know people on a deeper level. I have a few acquaintances who I have formed friendships with, and many more who I wish would slow down enough to see that I am really interested in getting to know who they are.

The above is a very long-winded way of saying (I gather) that you want deeper relationships with more people?

What are five things that you "can't live without?"
My family
Bubble Baths I like this. I had this too.
Long walks/exercise
Someone to talk to (you sound like you talk A LOT already btw...maybe change this???)
My cooking tools EXPAND on this....what do you love to cook (I rock a pecan pie), what are you trying now....etc

THIS is all fluff....doesn't add substance.
THAT is a cool combo.

Is there any additional information you would like your matches to know about you?
I am a romantic person. I crave closeness [THESE two might get you a bunch of guys looking for someone easy/desperate] and am very giving. I have learned much about what makes me tick, what "me" in the right relationship looks and feels like. I'd like to find that person with whom I am at my best.

What are you most passionate about?
LIFE!!! My family, my friends, finding the person who I can share my life, [REdundant my interests and my time with]. I am Passionate about food and cooking, politics and history, being outdoors, teaching and about people and writing and learning. I am a bit of a whirlwind (NO! really?!?) , and require someone who can keep up!

What are the THREE things for which you are MOST thankful?
My family THIS IS A DUPLICATE ANSWER that doesn't add any substance. , for the time I am able to spend with them, the comfort and love we share, and how we help each other to grow.
Living everyday. Being an upbeat and friendly person who brings a smile to others. The hope that I will find the person who sees me as I am and loves me for my spirit, passion and joy.
THIS you have said before: All of the things in my life that comfort and inspire me: music TYPE!, writing, [Rednundant: family, friends], books, the outdoors, learning new things. Challenges and the opportunity to grow.

The four things your friends say about you are:
Intelligent
Perceptive
Articulate
Genuine

What are three of my best life skills?
Using humor to make friends laugh
Maintaining an organized life
Raising and/or caring for children

How do you typically spend your leisure time?
Depends on the day...
I enjoy long walks IN the PARK (I never get tired!), bicycling, the beach, hiking, camping, [REDUNDANT spending time with friends and family.] I like concerts (TYPE) and dancing (type), farmers' markets and coffeehouses and hanging out.

WOW! You are a whirlwind!

A few specific comments:

When you give the same answers over and over (family, baths, talking, camping) it deprives you of the opportunity to add specifics or other facets of you. Saying the same thing over and over doesn't ADD anything. And makes the reader want to gloss over....

Specifics are key. You say music a few times...but you NEVER say what kind. So too general to be useful. Opera? Hip Hop? Country?????

Lifestyle compatibility is key.

give a heads up about your kids ages (so a guy knows if you are in the same stage: diapers, prom etc)

TRY to have a few concise answers. One sentence answers here and there would really make it seem less Ionlyhave560charactersandhavetosqueezeitallinorels e!

Expand on stuff the guys will like: outdoors, camping, being active and cooking. Add some specifics on those. Ie rollerblading, biking in the park and bbq.

I'd cut down on the stuff the guys don't love: talk talk and loud talk and you like to make everyone the very very best they can be. Not everyone wants to be someone else's project.

Best to you. K

I agree with whats been said already, you are definitely intelligent and pretty articulate... one thing that I like about your profile is that I can definitely picture the kind of person you are, you have a definite type that comes through clearly.

That being said, I'd pull it back about 20% so you seem a little less overwhelming and intense. The "important quality" section, I'd punt that altogether and start over. I'd also add your kids ages somewhere (if you play board games with them, I'd think fairly young) and definitely specify your type of music somewhere.

rYou need to be specific---what music? what movies? where do you like to bike? Also dont say you love something here but its something you rarely do. Dont say you love the beach and live in say Kansas where there are no beaches.

What are you match and distance settings? Your pictures matter. Do you initiate communication?

So, I am working on it...I know, I still have a ton to get across, but that's ME.

No, I do not initiate. That has backfired on me in the past. Yes, my photos are real, are me, are nice, and are current.
I am a decent-looking girl with a nice shape.

My latest attempt:

Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and why?
I have always been blessed with Wonderful friends. I would have to say my best friend (since I was 9) Ondreea, because she taught me many lessons.. She exudes imagination and intimacy; we learned together about forgiveness and strong friendship. She is still one of my 'rock's.

What is the most important quality that you are looking for in another person?

Expressiveness. I need you to share yourself with me. I want to look in your eyes and see your heart. Finding my partner for life will rest on heartfelt communication, trust and a deep mutual love.

Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?
Especially at work, and with close friends, I am the Ray O'Sunshine. I am friendly and greet people with a smile. I am comfortable with me; love being upbeat and energetic. I also have a huge laugh!

What is the ONE thing that people DON'T notice about you right away that you WISH they WOULD?
I wish people would slow down enough to see that I am really interested in getting to know who they are on a deeper level.

What are five things that you "can't live without?"

My kids, aged 4-15
Bubble Baths with Lush's Karma products
Walks on the Greenway
Cuddle time!
KitchenAid mixer and good skillet

Describe the last book that you read and enjoyed. What was it about? What did you like most about it?
Just wrapped up "Dress Codes" by Noelle Howey, about growing up with a transsexual father. I appreciated her take on how her parents' changes and struggles also changed her. I am now working on "Declaration," about the era of the writing of the Declaration of Independence.

Is there any additional information you would like your matches to know about you?

I am a romantic lady. I crave closeness, am snuggly, sassy and loving. I'd like to find that person with whom I am at my best.

What are you most passionate about?
LIFE!!! Being an involved, interested mom to my kids is a priority. 'Me' time is key: dining out, having coffee, chatting with my friends, people-watching. Of course, getting outdoors is a passion; I love to camp, hike, walk, bike take in the Sun! I am passionate about food! I just started a Foodie Journal to track the Delicacies/Cheeses/Wines/Restaurants I want to try, have tried, am fascinated by. I love to master cooking new foods, love to talk about food and read food-related media. Nutrition is a passion of mine.

What are the THREE things for which you are MOST thankful?

  • My family, for the time I am able to spend with them, the comfort and love we share, and how we help each other to grow.
  • Living everyday. Being an upbeat and friendly person who brings a smile to others.
  • All of the things in my life that comfort and inspire me: music, writing, family, friends, books, the outdoors, learning new things.

What are three of my best life skills?

Using humor to make friends laugh
Maintaining an organized life
Raising and/or caring for children

How do you typically spend your leisure time?
I cook and bake, try out new foods, for fun. I like to hide out in my warm bed. I enjoy being out or in with friends, enjoying a nice meal, a glass of wine (even whiskey!) or a margarita. I like to bowl, love to watch baseball and eat peanuts. Alone, I read or head to the gym for some treadmill time, go see a movie.....I enjoy concerts: Train/Maroon 5 was the last I saw, although musically I love anything from Steely Dan and the Doobie Brothers to Echo and the Bunnymen, New Order and Elvis Costello, to Ben Folds, Adele or even Trance music. I like to dance; I appreciate architecture and design. I am a whirlwind: try and keep up!!
