Has anyone else received a very odd email inviting you to join "a new site for old eHarmony members"? It had a link (that I did NOT click) that would supposedly allow me to access the site.

Is this a scam, or legit? I'm assuming it's a scam, but if eHarmony has been hacked, I'm very concerned about the financial info that they have (I had to pay with a credit card, so that number is on there.) It could have been hacked as well.

Not sure what e-mail you are talking about. I will send a message to one of the Admins. Please forward the e-mail to matchconcerns@eharmony.com. Also, eH does have another dating site called Jazzed. And a scammer doesn't need to access eHarmony to be able to spam you. They get e-mail addys from all over the place.

Anything is possible, but you'd have to wonder why eH would be targeted when so few of their "subscribers" are active.

Yes! I got the following message, which I deleted and reported as (that ham-based product that they eat a lot of in Hawaii):

Hi! Eharmony member,

We just wanted to say thank you for being a member. And also wanted to tell you about a new site that's buzzing
around. It has over 30 million brand new members and reported over 80,000 new relationships.

This is your chance!! It's FREE to sign up and message anyone.

If you would like to try it out, here it is [link deleted]

Thanks for being a valued member at EHarmony,

Todd Richardson, VP
EHarmony.com
MSG Idenification 002JNui3iJD
The return address was e-morgan @ satx .rr . com

It looked very suspicious (especially because I never receive emails from eH these days...). It was odd, too, that this was delivered to my inbox instead of being automatically caught by the filter and being put in the (bad emails) folder.

The fact that multiple people here received it suggests that this wasn't random sp....., but was working from a database of actual members/past members (I haven't been a paying member for a long time).

When this site was hacked awhile ago, eHA was very unconcerned; I hope that if the site has indeed been hacked again, there will be a more appropriate response.

Response moderated - but the answer is "yes"; I got that message as well (and, I am not an active member - I'm not paying and matching is turned off).

I don't think it was from Jazzed...that's what I thought at first, but it didn't seem legitimate enough for that. I'll forward it to that email address, though, and let them handle it. Thanks!

And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one...maybe it's just a scam rather than a true hacking.

I received an identical email (also former subscriber, several years ago). Either they're spamming a large number of random people, some of which are former subscribers, or their database has been compromised. Not encouraging. :/

From the message posted by neardc that has all the earmarks of being a bogus e-mail. However, the e-mail address that neardc said was the return would indicate that it is a legitimate e-mail domain from San Antonio, TX if I am reading that correctly. This is assuming that the extra spaces that neardc has in the e-mail address were not actually there. If the extra spaces were actually there then the e-mail address is bogus also.
