My subscription expired. I did not renew. Today I got the strangest email entitled "How to Make EH work for you" I sent them this reply.....

Thank you for your recent email suggesting how I can make EH work. I am thrilled to learn that if I make my settings larger than 60 miles I will find a match, especially since mine are set to 3 countries. Ditto with drinking preferences.

I guess that your statement that you have more members than ever explains why your rates are so much higher than before (when you were discounting your service to $5 a month) and why you have not offered me any of the typical EH discounts in the $15 to $20 range.

I am thrilled to know that for the low price of $100 you will continue to send me (rhymes with hammers), non subscribing members, men who do not meet my profile requirements in the least (love those "flex" matches) and the occasional man who responds to communication. And if I will pay $500 you will up the ante and find 10 men who you "hand pick" for me....so kind of you. Wait....isn't that the premise of your differentiation? That the 29 dimensions of compatability were doing that all along for $5 a month last year?

And I got the married guy who tried to kill his wife after we stopped dating, the guy who went back to his baby momma, the guy who cheated on his wife with her best friend and the guy who wanted me to come to his dahli lama seminar.

And if I had only expanded my preferred communication setting to eharmony mail, which really changes your service from a unique one to one where I am behaving the same as, say match, but don't get to control my searches, then I would be with "the one" right now.

Oh...and by the way...I didn't close all those guys in my inbox that say "you closed him on" and don't have a date. And all those guys you sent just before my subscription expired saying they had just requested new matches - they hadn't been active for more than 3 weeks so congrats on telepathically figuring that out. Your service has so many bugs and issues, and the security breaches on your sister site are so alarming that you should be ashamed of your price gouging.

It is a shame because I like the concept of EH, I like that you attract people looking for relationships (well except it seems for the ones you matched me with) but your marketing and your systems are so shoddy that you really must also be lying about all your new members. I bet you got them to try it out on the free weekend but I don't believe you have many satisfied customers left.

Please don't spam me anymore...on second thought...your email did give me a good laugh...kind of like the eharmony cat lady.

Hit the nail on the head. Same goes for female matches. I just cancelled my membership (so that it doesn't renew in April) earlier today. As a former member back in late 2008, the site used to be different and a few of the posters here confirmed that the addition of the What Ifs and Flex Matches were the demise of the service.

Thanks for sharing your letter as I know many current members feel the same way.

Haven't used EH in a long time, but if it's got half the software issues this forum does, then I don't blame you at all.

Excellent letter, Coffee!

...And all those guys you sent just before my subscription expired saying they had just requested new matches - they hadn't been active for more than 3 weeks so congrats on telepathically figuring that out....
On New Year's Day my head was still feeling the effects of the night before, so I succumbed to the impulse to re-open my eHarmony subscription, which had run out last August. Stupid me.

For the first few days I got matches that were recently active, but since then there have been very few. And for the past week or so, nearly all have been active "more than 3 weeks ago." Of the 220+ matches I've gotten since Jan. 1st, barely a dozen have even looked at my profile and fewer than 20 have shown any sign of life at all (whether looking at my profile, editing theirs, or posting photos).

I got one today who, in the "Some additional information I want you to know:" section, wrote "I used eHarmony's sample answers in most of my profile because they just say it SOOOO much better than I ever could!!"

29 Dimensions, huh?

Good grief...

I think a dahli lama seminar sounds interesting.
