Hello all,

I'm new here. I signed up on January 12, 2012. I have so far been very dissatisfied with the number of matches that I've received. I live near Saint Louis, MO and work there ( I do commute 20 minutes in.) I have widened my search criteria to include upto 120 miles, which would be very difficult for me
because I'm a nurse and a full-time mother and I don't have all that much time off to commute.

I think that part of the problem is that I make a decent salary, but I'm by no means wealthy. I'm in the 60,000- 125,000 range. This is important to me that my match makes at loeast what I make, I have no desire or means to pay for someone else. I have student loans, a car payment, a house payment, and a 12 year old.

I don't care about smoking or drinking, and have no religious preference. I am 32 years old and have my settings up to 32-46 years. I think that's a large enough range. I really can't see myself dating anyone much younger than me, as I have been married and divorced and have a house and a career and I don't find that younger people have their lives together, no can I see them in my 12 year olds life.

I am really tired of getting zero matches on a daily basis. The first day I had about 5. Of these, I had communication with 2. The first man stated this in his email that he was disappointed to have gotten through GC so quickly and was surprized that I had a long day and was excited. I replied to his email and he closed the match.

The second man I went on a date with on Saturday and he was very controlling... he was completely passive agressive, and I told him that we wouldn't get along well and wished him luck and he still insisted on walking me to my car even though I asked him not to do so.

The other 3 were not at all attractive to me either in their profiles or their pics. I am an attractive woman and I enjoy working out and taking care of myself.

I keep hearing to expand what you're looking for and finally gave into a lower salary range 40-60000, I got 5 matches. None would I even desire to talk to based on their profiles/ distance/ pics.

I think I need more matches. It seems to be slim pickings to get 10 matches. I don't think I'm being overly picky and some of these people are completly inappropriate and have said very sexual things right up front. Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

You should give Customer Service a call, you should be getting far more Matches than that, given your age and location.
There could be something wrong with your Account, or a setting on it that is restricting the number of Matches you are getting.

Judging by your Photo here and Career, (I am a sucker for Nurses!), you should be getting a lot of Communication with plenty of guys, probably to the point where you would be complaining about being overwhelmed with Matches.

I know for myself, given what you present here, (Great job/salary, good age range, cute, etc), I would have initiated Communication with you right away if we were Matched back when I was active on eHarmony.

Anyway, I would call (do NOT email!) eHarmony Customer Service, and see what they have to say, and see if they can fix up whatever the problem is.

Use a different site - one that's popular in your area. Despite what EH advertises, in many areas it is simply not particularly popular. If they don't have matches to send to you, there is really not much to be done about that. They advise you to expand your settings because they simply don't have people in your area.

lower your age down to 27-28 perhaps... I'm 29, have my age settings at 24-34 and the vast majority of my matches are 27-29... as long as you keep your other settings constant, you should get some more matches that way (and you can always close the ones that don't meet your career/maturity standards). I get 5-7 matches per day (and my radius is set down to 60 miles - I live about that far from a major metro area, so if you are that close to St Louis, I wouldn't think you'd need to go all the way out to 120 miles).

I also think that since you have a child would limit your number of matches to some degree (I don't know the actual data as to how many men who have the "already have kids" setting as yes but its a limiting factor).

Also its only been 3 weeks... some people have been at it a lot longer then that, so patience too...

eH lets you specify matches' incomes now? I don't remember that being one of the settings.

Like I said in your other thread about this, use a site where YOU get to browse the profiles and make your own choices.

It's not a setting per se, but

Income

Please select the category that best describes your income level.
$0 Less than $20,000 $20,000 to $40,000 $40,000 to $60,000 $60,000 to $125,000 $125,000 to $250,000 More than $250,000

How important is your match's
income to you?

Ah, okay. So when you say you "gave in to a lower salary range" you mean you changed how you defined your own salary range?

Missouri is not a large market area for eHarmony. Sadly eHarmony is not the only web site that does not work so I can't tell you just how far down the list of states Missouri is.
