"Both you and xxxxx have chosen to close each other.

You closed xxxxx on 27 January 2012, 10:15PM.
xxxxx closed you on27 January 2012, 09:46PM."

Just at the crucial point of exchanging phone numbers, the above happened. I didnt close my match so I don't understand why it says that. Im hoping she'll still be able to see my phone number otherwise our date on sunday won't happen. Argh!

A key point: according to the timestamps, she closed you first, so even if your close was by accident, she doesn't seem to want that date.

You can always call customer support and ask them about it. They will probably be able to provide an answer. Maybe there was a complaint (not divorced etc) against your match ?

This is the second thread that I have read today about matches being closed without the person doing anything. I am beginning to see a pattern here and it is saying that eHarmony has a MAJOR bug.

Unless eHarmony has made a change in policy recently, if they close a match for cause (violation of the TOS) their profile does not show up as being "closed". It is completely removed and there is a message that says that the profile has been removed if you click on their name in your closed folder. If eHarmony removes a match for cause they will send an e-mail to every match that they had been communicating with that states that the person was found to not be as they had represented and that you should stop all further communication with that match if you had moved to personal communication.

If a match chooses to close their account completely and requests their profile be removed from the site, when you click on their name a blank window will pop up with a message that says that the match is no longer available.

From the way I am reading this OP and also the other thread on the same subject the profile is still there but it says that it is completely closed by both people. This is what does happen when both people close a match. You can still see the profile in it's entirety and also read all communications that had taken place before the match was closed.

I've spoken to tech support on the phone and they've resent her a request to open communication. I'll let you all know how it goes but given that she was out last night with friends, I doubt she did actually close our communication intentionally. Looks like a bug to me.

We'd already agreed a location and an evening to meet - all i had to do was send her my number. Finger's crossed she's not about to ditch me

My date is back on - definitely a technical fault with Eharmony.

I was using the android app when the whole thing happened. Either both me and her have fat fingers and managed to accidentally block each other within 30 minutes of each other or there is something extremely shady about the app.

Something similar happened to me... I had sent a GC to someone, in which it seemed like they closed me the next morning. Since I saw the match was closed by her, I then closed the match on my side. Strangely, the same match ended up answering my GC later that night. I was able to view her answers and then answered her GC 1st round questions. It's been a few days and I've seen nothing since. Not sure if the system blocked the communication since it was technically closed or what.

Whether it was a bug or not, I contacted EH customer support and they said they would send her a request to re-open the match. Crossing my fingers.

I would always exchange numbers before planning date/time/place. It reduces the time wasted on time wasters who never really want to meet up.
