I respond to men's profiles, but I never get anything back. I would like to know why. Please take a look.

The one thing I am most passionate about:
I love anything that gets me out of the house. Movies, music, theater, the beach, traveling, Disney World or any other theme park, dinner, coffee, day trips, being with family or friends.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is: The most important quality in ANY relationship is honesty. If you can't be honest with your partner, what's the point. A realationship cannot last if you cannot be honest with each other.

Basic Information

Occupation:Teacher Age43Height5' 2" Wants Kids:YesKids at Home:No
EthnicityHispanic or LatinoReligion:Christian Drinks:A few times a yearSmokes:Never

In my own words

The most influential person in my life has been:

This will definetly give him a bigger head then he already has, but my younger brother. He ALWAYS tells me the truth, no matter how hurtful it maybe; sometimes his honesty makes me mad, but after I calm down I realize that he is right.

The three things which I am most thankful for:
  • I am grateful for my family; without them, I wouldn't be who I am.
  • In this economy, I am grateful to have a job!
  • I am grateful for my health; without it, I wouldn't be able to do much of anything!
Three of my best life-skills are:
  • Using humor to make friends laugh
  • Entertaining in my home
  • Maintaining a network of close friends

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:

People often think I am a snob when the truth is I am quiet and shy. Unitl I get to know you that is!

The things I can't live without are:
  • Family
  • Love
  • Shelter
  • Food
  • Health

The first thing people notice about me:

People notice my sense of humor. I am funny and I love to laugh and make people laugh.

Some additional information I want you to know:

This is such a tough section to fill out isn't it? I mean, what person actually LIKES talking about themselves....honestly I like to write, though I wouldn't classify myself as a writer. I enjoy it immensly. I also like to paint things like ceramics or wood. I can also paint a house, if I must I LOVE to cook and bake. I grew up on an island (Long Island), so I love the water, it calms me. I would love to try new things (I'm not a daredevil though, so nothing TOO outrageous). I am looking for someone to hang out with; if it turns into something more, EXCELLENT; if not, I can always make room for another friend. Everyone has baggage, you'd

My interests

I typically spend my leisure time:

I love going to the movies, the theater, walking around town, anything that gets me out of the house really. I am also happy to stay at home with that special someone.

The last book I read and enjoyed:

Since I am a teacher, I rarely get to read books that are for adults so when I get the chance, I am excited. The last book I read was "The Davinci Code". It was VERY suspensful and it had a very interesting take on the holy grail. The movie was good too, but I enjoyed the book much better.

According to my friends:

My friends describe me as:
  • Funny
  • Easy-Going
  • Affectionate
  • Loyal

Put your photos up in an album here; they are as important, or more important than your profile in getting started.

Pictures do matter. What are your match settings in terms of age and distance?

Your profile is bland. You need to pit in more personally details and answer the questions asked.

First, welcome! I'm your age it EH worked for me. Here is some input....

The one thing I am most passionate about:
I love anything that gets me out of the house. This sounds negative and sedentary. Movies, music, theater, the beach, traveling, TOO VAGUE. Disney World or any other theme park, dinner, coffee, day trips, being with family or friends.

First this is a laundry list, which some people are more nazi about then others.

It also implies that all of these are equally important. AND it doesn't therefore really show ANY passion. It's too vague. What type of music? Food? Movies? Surely you can see a difference between a guy who says he likes "Arnold movies, budlight, drives an F-150 and Garth music" and one who says "silent films, drives a cooper, drinks cosmos and listens to Madonna?" It's not about name brands but lifestyle....lifestyle compatibility is huge.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is: The most important quality in ANY relationship is honesty. If you can't be honest with your partner, what's the point. A realationship cannot last if you cannot be honest with each other.

I agree. And really we see this answer ALL the time. BUT it reeks of baggage. And no one actually comes in looking for liars. You can go serious on this or kinda funny. Looking for a fellow Steelers fan/a man to kill spiders/eat half the popcorn.

Basic Information

Occupation:Teacher Age43Height5' 2" Wants Kids:YesKids at Home:No
EthnicityHispanic or LatinoReligion:Christian Drinks:A few times a yearSmokes:Never

The wants kids thing is tricky on EH as it is badly worded. I can't tell if you (at 43) desire to have more kids or are open to someone else's or if you have kids already or what. This may be screening out men either because they think you will want to immediately find a guy and get pregnant.... or because they put no.
In my own words

The most influential person in my life has been:

This will definetly give him a bigger head then he already has, but my younger brother JARED. He ALWAYS tells me the truth, no matter how hurtful it maybe; sometimes his honesty makes me mad, but after I calm down I realize that he is right.

Overall not a bad answer but it may imply you are hot-headed.

People often think I am a snob TERRIBLE word choice! That may turn men off. I get you are saying you "aren't" BUT something is leading others to think so. when the truth is I am quiet and shy. Unitl I get to know you that is!

The things I can't live without are:
  • Family
  • Love
  • Shelter
  • Food
  • Health
You have missed the opportunity to create connections here. The list is boring and doesn't tell the reader anything new. Add some sensory language/specifics that tell/imply something about you. Here are some examples: The sound of rain on the roof. A hot bubble bath. High heels. Bacon. My black lab Buffy I rescued last year. A cold beer and hot wings.

The first thing people notice about me:

People notice my sense of humor. I am funny and I love to laugh and make people laugh.

Some additional information I want you to know:

DUMP because it adds nothing: This is such a tough section to fill out isn't it? I mean, what person actually LIKES talking about themselves....honestly

BUT this below is pretty good!
I like to write SCI FI (or whatever), though I wouldn't classify myself as a writer. I enjoy it immensly. I also like to paint things (crafts? this isn't clear) like ceramics or wood. I can also paint a house, if I must

AND THIS is great. EIther of these answers, btw, would be head and shoulders better as your passionate about section. I LOVE to cook and bake. I grew up on an island (Long Island), so I love the water, it calms me. Men love women who cook. Lead with that. Say WHAT you cook. I bake the best brownies. I rock the bbq, whatever.

I would love to try new things (I'm not a daredevil though, so nothing TOO outrageous).

NO NO NO...this will get you no LTR and a ton of pen pals. It's a waste of time and energy and will attract the wrong sort AND say you yourself aren't really looking. I am looking for someone to hang out with; if it turns into something more, EXCELLENT; if not, I can always make room for another friend. Everyone has baggage, you'd

My interests

It would be nice if you would say what grade you teach.

You pictures will be important but your profile needs some TLC! Distance, ages, and the kids thing will be crucial.

Revenlin...

There are two factors that would determine if I would start communicating with you; one, distance from me, two, your photos. If they worked out, your profile would fly through.

The profile is fine, on balance. I complement you (and that's why I'm posting), is you correctly answered '...the most important THING you are looking for in...' too many women post laundry lists of what they want. By putting several points in there, it sounds 'high maintenence' or pretentious. You are to be commended to sticking to ONE thing. The 'one passion' thing doesn't bother me too much because it comes off less demanding and you come off as conversational here.

I like the talk about your brother and you explained that very well.

The snob line, doesn't bother me at all. I understand EXACTLY what you mean.

The open ended question, you don't have to fill out. You are trying to be conversational here, you sound a little unsure of yourself. If you aren't sure about something, don't say so, once someone gets to know you, they may THEN see that as part of your thought process and accept it. I do agree that 'we can always be friends' type of line doesn't belong here, or on a dating site. It would be a turn off to me.

On balance, not bad, believe me, it's better than a lot I see.

Passionate about is why you chose your career, is there an interest you will never give up, is there a cause you fight or volunteer for? Is there a hobby you love?

This comes off asd you are a trapped woman looking to be rescued by dating someone and you have been a hermit.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is: The most important quality in ANY relationship is honesty. If you can't be honest with your partner, what's the point. A realationship cannot last if you cannot be honest with each other.

Who DOES NOT want an honest person...raise your hand..... this is very cliche. What baggage do you have. Seriously think about what you have found in the personality of those you dated..what did you notice in their personality you just loved.

snob...why did they come up with this.....people dont want snobs...so they are going to have doubts about you and this is an excuse to pass on you. Given you are a teacher who doesnt make that much combined with you want to find someone that will take you places can come off as if you are a potetenial gold digger.

Good comments from others; just one additional comment from me...

Re: the DaVinci Code; is that really the only thing you can come up with? It's a very pedestrian choice, and one that appeared in countless profiles I got when I was on eH a few years ago. Others won't necessarily react the same way, of course, but when I used to see it, it suggested to me that the person wasn't much of a reader, and that they didn't make particularly interesting choices when they did read. To me, it would be preferable even to see a teacher list a silly book for children (and joke about that) than it would be to see the DaVinci Code listed, which suggests that you haven't actually read a book in the last 5 years. That might also give you an opportunity to demonstrate the sense of humor you say you have, which is otherwise lacking from your profile

(And, let's face it, if you have time to go to movies and the theater and out to dinner, or to walk around town, you do have time to read an adult book if you want to. So, it doesn't seem genuine to say that you don't have time to read adult books simply because you are a teacher. It's absolutely fine not to be someone who reads much for pleasure, but in your profile you shouldn't blame that on the fact the you are a teacher, especially since that also suggests that you don't even read professional literature that keeps you up-to-date in your field. )

Since I am a middle school teacher (I teach 7th and 8th grade Reading and Language Arts), the last book I read actually was a series. I read all seven Harry Potter books.
