Any help you guys can give me would be great! I'm really confused as to why I don't get many responses. I initiate communication with everyone I have the slightest interest in. I think my pictures are pretty good, and have even had a female friend look at them, and she liked them. So I just don't get it.

Age: 39
Occupation: Journalist
Height: 6' 2"
Education: Bachelors
Kids: Yes
Ethnicity: White, non hispanic
Religion: Spiritual, but not religious
Smokes: Never
Drinks: About once a week

Other than your parents, who has been the most influential person in your life and why?

There hasn't really been any one person. My group of close friends through the years have probably had the most influence on me.

What is the most important quality that you are looking for in another person?

Someone with similar interests, but also someone that can show me something new. A best friend that I can talk to about anything, but isn't afraid of the occasional awkward silence. Honesty is a must, and no game playing!

Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?

People always think I'm very serious. I don't think that way about myself though. I guess I just always have a serious look on my face, but in my head I could be thinking about something ridiculously funny!

What is the ONE thing that people DON'T notice about you right away that you WISH they WOULD?

I haven't answered this one.

What are five things that you "can't live without?"

Iphone
Cheese
Music
Concerts
Pizza

Describe the last book that you read and enjoyed. What was it about? What did you like most about it?

Fugitives and Refugees by Chuck Palahniuk. He wrote Fight Club and lives in Portland. It's kind of a guide to everything weird in Portland. My favorite book is probably Among The Thugs though. It's about English soccer hooligans. Very interesting and eye opening.

Is there any additional information you would like your matches to know about you?

I have kind of a screwy work schedule, but that won't stop me from getting out and having a good time.

What are you most passionate about?

Music. I love going to concerts. Nothing beats seeing a band play their music live. I'm also passionate about my friends, family, good food, traveling, and soccer. If I can combine the last 2, even better.

What are the THREE things for which you are MOST thankful?

My Job
My Health
My Friends

The four things your friends say about you are:

Kind
Intelligent
Easy-Going
Respectful

What are three of my best life skills?

Maintaining a network of close friends.
Understanding local, national, and world events.
Making art and culture an ongoing part of my life.

How do you typically spend your leisure time?

I like to listen to music, watch movies, go to Timbers games, and get out and explore Oregon. And since I'm from Arizona, I'm constantly searching for the perfect taco that reminds me of home, So far I haven't had any luck though.

There hasn't really been any one person. My group of close friends through the years have probably had the most influence on me. Lazy answer. It doesn't have to be a person of some great influence, but there has to be someone that you can think that has stood out whose character or action you admire. Pick one and talk about it.

What is the most important quality that you are looking for in another person?

Someone with similar interests, but also someone that can show me something new. A best friend that I can talk to about anything, but isn't afraid of the occasional (awkward) delete silence. Honesty is a must, and no game playing! Have you ever heard anyone say they want to date a game playing liar? Statements like that make it seem like either you are carrying major baggage or you are the lying game player yourself and don't want competition.

Other than your appearance, what is the first thing that people notice about you?

People always think I'm very serious. I don't think that way about myself though. I guess I just always have a serious look on my face, but in my head I could be thinking about something ridiculously funny!

It's about English soccer hooligans. Very interesting and eye opening. This is a bit unfinished. Eye opening in what way for you? Expand a little and show how you think.

This is kind of a weird jumble of random things. Pick one you are passionate about - music, reason you chose your career, politics, some cause you believe in, a sports team, etc. and talk about it briefly. How did you get into it? What do you get out of it? For instance, my passion is X type of music because when I was little Y happened. Every time I listen to X music I feel.....

What are the THREE things for which you are MOST thankful?

My Job
My Health
My Friends

How do you typically spend your leisure time?

I like to listen to music what kind? concerts or radio or ipod?, watch movies what kind?, go to Timbers games, and get out and explore Oregon hiking? driving? both?. And since I'm from Arizona, I'm constantly searching for the perfect taco that reminds me of home, So far I haven't had any luck though. This section is really sparse. Add more detail and personalize it more. This is what most matches will read carefully to try and get a glimpse into what your life is like and what they might have in common with you.
My detailed comments above. It's not a bad profile, but at the same time lacks details. There is not enough of a hook for a woman to read it and say "wow, I want to know more."

Other than that, make sure you have good photos of yourself. Ask a female friend to proof them for you. If your photos don't pass muster, it doesn't matter what's in your profile because nobody will bother reading it.

I haven't answered this one.

What are five things that you "can't live without?"

Iphone
Cheese Anything specific? Tillamook extra sharp cheddar is lovely.
Music I bet you like "air" too. Example??
Concerts Oh, if ONLY we had an example...
Pizza

Fugitives and Refugees by Chuck Palahniuk. He wrote Fight Club and lives in Portland. It's kind of a guide to everything weird in Portland. My favorite book is probably Among The Thugs though. It's about English soccer hooligans. Very interesting and eye opening. Nice.

Is there any additional information you would like your matches to know about you?

I have kind of a screwy work schedule, EXAMPLE???? but that won't stop me from getting out and having a good time.

As a woman who might be in your theoretical target audience, I can't tell WHAT this schedule business means. Especially if you are open to women with kids. Work nights? Work weekends? Regular days except when POTUS is in town or thre is a natural disaster....

What are you most passionate about?

Music. I love going to concerts. Nothing beats seeing a GOOD Madonna cover band play their music live. I'm also passionate about my friends, family, good food I love TOFURKEY, traveling especially to Tacoma, and soccer watching or playing???.

All big prissy drunk frat boys, btw. No girls allowed. Actually, it's nice if true if you can put sort of a I'm a guy in a network of couples and we bbq each weekend and drink microbrew. She wants to know that there is a place for her in your life/that there are things you will do together.
Understanding local, national, and world events.
Making art and culture an ongoing part of my life.

How do you typically spend your leisure time?

I like to listen to music, watch movies, go to Timbers games, and get out and explore Oregon. And since I'm from Arizona, I'm constantly searching for the perfect taco that reminds me of home, S[s]o far I haven't had any luck though. I'm open for lunch, if you know of a good spot. [plant the seed]
I agree with what was mostly said above...

You are probably a good guy. Your profile reads vague. Fuzzy. The most interesting answers you have are the taco and the Chuck P. books. Why's that? Specifics Senor Journalisto.

You want things where she can go ME TOO! or Huh? Really? Tell me about that....

Good luck! -K

You are a photojournalist then.......

What are your match settings in terms of age and distance?

The fact is eharmony has about 75% dead profile of people who may show up on free weekends. Of the remainng 25%... half of them or 1 out of 8?.. Have either found someone they are dating. Or they prepaid but have given up. The other 1 out of 8. Are acidly looking like yourself.

A match won't happen overnight.

Just keep communicating like you have been...also live bodies are possibly those that viewed you or updated their profile.

Not to be disagreeable, but I actually like that you have "Maintaining a network of close friends" in your life skills. To me, it shows me that you're a loyal, hard working friend that is committed to the relationships in your life (not just romantic) and have a good support system. I find that attractive in a man. I don't think that it indicates that there won't be a place for "her." I also don't think that it indicates that it's a boys club by any means. You're in your 30s like me, and I'm sure that your close friends are men and women - probably couples (like mine).

I meet a lot of men that don't have a good network of friends and I find them to be looking for me to "complete" that for them - which becomes someone who is needy and dependent on me for their happiness. I think it's really healthy to have people outside of a relationship that your close to. It shows a lot of character.
