I have a different opinion of most here, I would expect more than 1 or 2 words in a response. It is not looking for a creative writer rather someone who can hold a conversation. If you can't type out a paragraph back to me (I am talking between 6-8 sentences) then there is a good chance you can't hold a conversation in real life. If you are so busy you can't do a little effort into an email you are probably too busy for a relationship. I would close them if every response was short and lacking any effort all the time.

Exactly!
I am in total agreement here.

Look, I get that some people don't like writing/typing, and that they would prefer to just meet up right away.
I *totally* get it!

But when they write 1 or two sentences, and don't give me anything else, no questions, no anything...
It is just a turn off.

Even if she doesn't realize it, she is coming across as someone
who is totally uninterested in me, and is just going through the motions.

But as everyone says, we are here to meet/date, not be penpals.

I typically will still attempt to move these gals to dates sooner than later, and quite honestly, each and every time I have met up with one of these kinds of Matches, they indeed presented just as they did in their email...
Boring and a total lack of personality.

Thus, I stand by my belief...
Most people that write terse/short/boring emails typically end up being the same in real life.
I absolutely agree with you two. My OC messages aren't usually lengthy, but I tend to ask a couple light questions based on the "things to talk about" lists. My goal? I want to find out two things within the first 2-3 OC messages. 1) Is there the same (or better) connection in OC that there was when I read his profile and while we were in GC? 2) Can he carry on a written conversation with some depth?

If he answers with 2-3 word messages, that answers both of my questions: 1) No, there's not the same connection, and there's a good possibility that he's not that interested, and 2) No, he's probably not much of a conversationalist.

Problem solved. Match closed.

So I messaged the minimal effort girl and asked her out... predictably she just ignored my email. That sounds about right.
I've almost never had this problem.

I don't email asking someone out.

I email either asking for their phone number or asking to exchange phone numbers or giving mine.

After some kind of phone contact has been made and (usually) a bit of texting I then say something like "it would be nice to meet up for a drink or 3".

Your read was right I guess. Don't think there was anything that you could have done differently to change the outcome. Hopefully some of your other matches are promising...
