New to online dating in general, eHarmony more specifically. Thanks all!

The one thing I am most passionate about:

I'm passionate about making sure I make a positive impact on the world. I work for a non-profit organization whose issues and the people impacted by them are very important to me.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:

I am looking for someone who wants to have some great adventures together, both here in the city and around the world. Someone who believes that even the everyday or mundane can be fun and a bit of an adventure if you have the right attitude.

The most influential person in my life has been:

My younger brother -- public school teacher and Coast Guard reservist, he's always looking out for others.

The three things which I am most thankful for:

I'm thankful for the great friends I've found over the last decade here in XXXXXXX.
I'm thankful for my wonderful family and their support. It's nice to not only love your family, but like them as well!
I'm thankful for my good health, and the health of people I love.

Three of my best life-skills are:

Entertaining in my home
Maintaining a network of close friends
Managing my finances

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:

That I am a really good dancer. Well, cute dancer. The "good" is probably subjective.

The things I can't live without are:

Family and friends
Books
Travel
Sunny days
A job I love

The first thing people notice about me:

That I'm outgoing, friendly and really open with people. Some people say I have no inner monologue - I am usually saying what I think and feel. Though not in an inappropriate way, of course!

I typically spend my leisure time:

I love yoga, reading, jogging, politics and spending time with friends. Travel is a huge passion for me. I love to spend spend time planning my next trip or reading Budget Travel magazine and thinking about new places to put on my must-visit list.

The last book I read and enjoyed:

My favorite book is Exodus by Leon Uris, and I read it about once a year. It's just such a great story that spans over a really interesting time period and brings up such a wide range of emotions.

My friends describe me as:

Easy-Going
Sweet
Intelligent
Outgoing

This profile is appealing in many ways. It does highlight that your are active, have ambition and a passion for things ahead. My basic advice is to use each section / question to highlight a different aspect of yourself...in other words ..make it a game or challenge to never mention anything more than once.

In a few sections /questions a bit of elaboration would be good...to get more of a sense of your personality, tastes and humor.....For example what do you love about your job? ...What non-profits inspire you, why..how are you involved.

Overall very nice profile and brief is better...so that's a very good start...Good Luck..

I agree with Wiseman, I like this, you did good, you'd have my 5 questions sent...

I guess if I had to nitpick, with the 3 thankful things/things you can't live without, I find a majority of people put friends or family or both so its kind of an obvious answer (but I did that myself). But you did put sunny days in there, I like those sort of answers.

This is good...but it could be better if you talked about what this organization does or what you do...what are these issues important to you? You want to demonstrate who you are.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:

I am looking for someone who wants to have some great adventures together, both here in the city and around the world. Someone who believes that even the everyday or mundane can be fun and a bit of an adventure if you have the right attitude.

How has he influenced you?

Talk about what you like to travel to? Where was your last trip? Some peple prefer travling to Europe..others prefer Asia..some like cities...other like nature...ideally you want to find someone who will go to the same places you like to go to.

The last book I read and enjoyed:

My favorite book is Exodus by Leon Uris, and I read it about once a year. It's just such a great story that spans over a really interesting time period and brings up such a wide range of emotions.

Your profile is pretty good as it stands...but addressing what I said could make it better.

The other importanat piece are your pics. You need to have a face shot and a body shot that shows your figure from your thighs up.

As for online dating....some advice....

What are your settings in terms of age range and distance? Are there other things you have priority for such as religiion or other things?

When you see profiles dont be afraid to communicate by sending 5 questions. ice breakers are only for nonpayers.

Also dont be so quick to dismiss potential matches by focusing on getting your dream catch...be realistic. Dont be some BBW looking for some hot stud..its not going to happen.

In terms of meeting....from the time you get to open communication and if they are in the same area as you...look to meet face to face within two weeks. If iys farther like 3-4 hrs maybe alittle longer. 4 hrs or more longer still. roughly the number of hrs drive is the numbers of weeks you want to taget meeting face to face.

no matter how great profiles and emails are..you never really know till you meet face to face. pictures only give you an idea...sometimes they are much better than their pics...other times they are much worse.

where to meet...do something like coffee or lunch or dinner for a first meet. Other options are meeting at a museum, a mall, a book store, a street fair, an arts and crafts festival..somethign where people are around.

The idea is you are meeting for the first time. You meet at a place..none of this of him coming to pick you up. you get the feel of them in person. Make it open ended where if things dont look good you have an easy out..if they click then you can do something else after.

If you had a good time talking dont be so quick to judge them...do a second date with them to find out how it is. Love at first sight is a fallacy.

I don't know what "cute" dancing is. It makes me think of a little girl pretending to be a ballerina and I'm just not into children.

This is a very well-written profile. I get a sense of "you" and it has a nice conversational tone. Impressive for a first attempt.

That being said, details are your friend. They will add depth and color to who you are and provide the right (i.e. compatible) matches with opportunities to really connect with your story and want to reach out. See below for some specific suggestions on how you might improve it even further.

Best of luck with your search!

New to online dating in general, eHarmony more specifically. Thanks all!

The one thing I am most passionate about:

I'm passionate about making sure I make a positive impact on the world. How? Doing what? Are you sending a cheque to "Save the Children" or heading off to Afghanistan to spend your vacation building a school and teaching women to read? What? I work for a non-profit organization whose issues and the people impacted by them are very important to me. Don't list the name of your employer, however, please share what these issues are and some of the tangible ways in which people are helped. Why are their issues important to you? What prompted you to become involved?

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:

I am looking for someone who wants to have some great adventures together (Provide an example or two of the types of adventures that you would hope to share), both here in the city (Any particular neighborhoods?) and around the world (Where in the world? Malta? Timbuktu? Alaska?). Someone who believes that even the everyday or mundane can be fun and a bit of an adventure if you have the right attitude (Example?).

The most influential person in my life has been:

My younger brother -- public school teacher and Coast Guard reservist, he's always looking out for others. What impact has this had on you? As a result, what do you do differently or more mindfully? Remember that even though the section is asking about your brother, the purpose is to learn more about YOU.

The three things which I am most thankful for:

I'm thankful for the great friends I've found over the last decade here in XXXXXXX.
I'm thankful for my wonderful family and their support. It's nice to not only love your family, but like them as well! I like this!
I'm thankful for my good health, and the health of people I love.

Three of my best life-skills are:

Entertaining in my home
Maintaining a network of close friends
Managing my finances

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:

One of the more challenging questions to answer in the profile. I like your take.
The things I can't live without are:

Family and friends We now have the third mention each of friends and family. Friends and family are important to everyone who isn't a hermit. Hermits aren't on dating sites, so for all intents and purposes, all your matches value their friends and family. Tell your matches something unique about yourself rather than repeating cliches over and over again. Remember, you have limited space to convey your story in your profile. Try to maximize how much you get across by not repeating the same information over and over again.
Books
Travel
Sunny days
A job I love
Nice list except for comment above

The first thing people notice about me:

That I'm outgoing, friendly and really open with people. Some people say I have no inner monologue - I am usually saying (Crisper: "I usually say...") what I think and feel. Though not in an inappropriate way, of course!

I typically spend my leisure time:

I love yoga, reading, jogging, politics and spending time with friends. Travel is a huge passion for me. (Mention a couple of your favorite spots that you've visited, what you did, and why you loved them. How often do you travel?) I love to spend spend (fix typo) time planning my next trip or reading Budget Travel magazine and thinking about new places to put on my must-visit list. Mention a couple of places currently on your wish list and why? Are you planning to go with friends? Alone?

The last book I read and enjoyed:

My favorite book is Exodus by Leon Uris, and I read it about once a year. It's just such a great story that spans over a really interesting time period and brings up such a wide range of emotions.
Great answer!
