Hello everyone! Just looking for some feedback on my profile. The profile photos that I use are also uploaded under the albums of my profile in this blog. Thanks for all the help

Basic Information
Occupation: Research Engineer
Age 33 Height 5' 9"
Wants Kids: Maybe
Kids at Home: No
Ethnicity White, non-Hispanic
Religion: Spiritual, but not religious
Drinks: Several times a week
Smokes: Never

The one thing I am most passionate about:
I love traveling, seeing new places, meeting new people, learning about different cultures and tastes. I can be adventurous and half like Indiana Jones (the half that includes being afraid of snakes as well, haha) at times. I am passionate about laughing and making people laugh. Hey, it is one of the best medicines in the world and nothing makes me happier than cheering somebody else up. I also love to be outdoors, be active, play sports.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:
I started typing fun loving and deleted to replace with compassionate (my favorite word this week). Genuine, ambitious, open minded, sensual and affectionate came to mind as well. Mom???? ) I'm looking for a partner in crime. I want someone who will "play." Who will workout with me, run, cook, go do things with me. I am looking for someone who is not only going to be my lady but my friend as well. My ideal relationship is--truly--a partnership on equal footing.

The most influential person in my life has been
The most influential person in my life has been: My first boss at work. I really enjoyed working with him for two years. Not only he patiently taught me how to tackle technical problems but he also showed me how to be a true leader. He is in his seventies now and still full of energy and passionate about life and work. He shows up at 6AM at the office and I could not beat him yet.

The three things which I am most thankful for:
  • My parents. I could not be the person, who I am, without their support.
  • My fiends. And I believe in the saying "Show me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are".
  • My education. Lets me pursue an exiting career.

Three of my best life-skills are:
  • Achieving personal goals
  • Keeping physically fit
  • Maintaining a network of close friends

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:

I am shy at first. So people do not notice right away that I am a humorous person in my own unique way.

The things I can't live without are:
  • Laughter-one of the best medicines in the world
  • Friends-closest thing I have after my parents
  • Wasabi-it makes eating sushi a fun experience
  • Exercise-like to stay fit
  • ctrl+z-definitely makes my life easier

The first thing people notice about me:
People say that I have a friendly smile and how that makes them comfortable around me. Maybe when we meet, you may notice something else but you will have to let me know

Some additional information I want you to know:
Shhhh That is my little secret for now !! Just kidding ) I have a horrible hand writing (almost very close to hierography) and my friends and colleagues tease me quite a bit about it... I like almost every type of food (Mexican, Japanese, South American, Middle Eastern, Indian, Thai). I usually prefer drinking red wine and beer. And I am a sucker for blue color and I have shirts and t-shirts in different tones of blue.... If you think we’d get along, I’d be happy to hear from you

I typically spend my leisure time:
Leisure time is difficult to have at times but when it is around, I like to be active and adventurous. I like traveling, camping, road trips, canoeing. I tried caving in Mammoth Caves, KY before and loved it. Skydiving and hang-gliding are still on my to-do-list. When I put my Indiana Jones hat down, I like playing and watching sports, spending time with friends, dancing Tango or reading a book. I enjoy cooking for family and friends as well.

The last book I read and enjoyed:
Valhalla Rising by Clive Cussler. It was an adventure novel, full of surprises and breath taking right from the beginning to the end. I could not drop the book until I finished it.

My friends describe me as:
  • Genuine
  • Caring
  • Passionate
  • Romantic

Speaking as a straight 30/m:
I kind of imagine the whole "mom" reference might be a little off-putting. As I understand it, not many women want to be your mom. And it's a little creepy that you think of your mom as "sensual."

Lose the emoticons. Maybe this is just me talking, but I kind of feel like if you can't express what you're trying to say without them, then you need to get better at communication.

Best of luck, dude.

Kids at Home: No
Ethnicity White, non-Hispanic

The one thing I am most passionate about:
I love traveling, seeing new places, meeting new people, learning about different cultures and tastes. I can be adventurous and half like Indiana Jones (the half that includes being afraid of snakes as well, haha) at times. An adventurous wuss?? I am passionate about laughing and making people laugh. Hey, it is one of the best medicines in the world and nothing makes me happier than cheering somebody else up. I also love to be outdoors, be active, play sports. This entire paragraph is really just a jumble of leisure activities and doesn't answer the question. When you think about passion, think about what deeply interests you? Your job, a hobby, a cause? Pick one thing and then briefly talk about it. What is it, why it interests you, how did you get into it, what do you get out of it, etc.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:
I started typing fun loving and deleted to replace with compassionate (my favorite word this week). Genuine, ambitious, open minded, sensual and affectionate came to mind as well. Mom???? ) This mommy comment is just flat out creepy no matter how I spin in my mind. I'm looking for a partner in crime. I want someone who will "play." Who will workout with me, run, cook, go do things with me. I am looking for someone who is not only going to be my lady but my friend as well. My ideal relationship is--truly--a partnership on equal footing. To me, this entire paragraph is fairly off putting. It reads like a five star clinger looking for someone to cling to. This is mainly because of the way it's worded with a laundry list of things she must do with you. Again, the question is asking for one important quality. So you said compassion (lose the favorite word this week comment) - expand a little on what that means to you. Why it's important in a relationship and delete the rest.

I am shy at first. So people do not notice right away that I am a humorous person in my own unique way. This reads as I'm shy and weird and not in a good way. Delete this whole thing and think of something else to say that's actually positive about yourself. All this tells a potential match is that you'll be difficult to get to know and if she goes on a date with you, she'll have to carry the conversation. Who wants that?

My comments above. Some of your attempts at humor really do not translate well to written word. Also, please get rid of the emoticons all over your profile. One or two are fine. More than that and it's just annoying. Finally, proof read your profile carefully and check your spelling and grammar. Your profile is like a resume - typos will land you in the trash can.

Photos. The only ones I'd keep would be the street sign one, the engineering joke one, the formal in the corridor in a suit, the mountain backdrop and one where you are sitting at a table with the glass showing facing the camera. The rest, I'd delete simply because either you are not really visible or the shots are not flattering to you due to poor light.

Hi...you seem like a bunch of the engineers I know. So I am going to give you constructive advice.

The beginning is very vague and the end is stuffed full of specifics. There are also "repeats" of stuff (Indiana Jones/friends etc) and that is just hammering the same note over and over and not adding valuable content.

My general advice is: write more crisply. You over write a bunch and it feels like you are tying to cram a stuff in using 10 words when 5 will do.

Try to mix some short answers with longer ones so you don't always seem like you are BURSTING OUT with words and canbarelygetinthecharacterlimits!

Instead of a laundry list be specific. The TANGO for example is great but got lost in the morass...and lots of women love to dance.

I think your pictures are fine. I'd lead with the suit. Some are dorky ("desk"), in a cute way, but I'd limit that a bit...maybe just to one.

BEST-K

Hello everyone. I thank you all very much for all of your comments. These have been an eye opener and very helpful.
I really appreciate it!

I am definitely thinking about having a family with the right person at the right time. But I originally chose "maybe" for children since my dream seemed to be far away on the horizon. I am definitely neither a party boy nor an alcoholic. Certainly, thank you very much for bringing these to my attention as I did not think that my original answers might have been interpreted in a different way.

I re-worked on my profile and put every effort to address your comments. I tried to provide more solid answers and highlight few things that got lost previously. The updated profile is provided below. I will be breaking it into two separate posts to be able to stay within character limits for each post

Please let me know if you have any comments. Thank you all again for your time and help.

Basic Information
Occupation: Research Engineer
Age: 33
Height: 5' 9"
Wants Kids: Yes
Kids at Home: No
Ethnicity White, non-Hispanic
Religion: Spiritual, but not religious
Drinks: About once a week
Smokes: Never

The one thing I am most passionate about:
I am passionate about dancing Tango. I learned how to dance when I was in school. Being an engineer, I had never thought that I could do something artistic. But on the dance floor, I can feel and interpret the music all the way through my heart, which takes me somewhere beyond this world.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:
I'm looking for a partner in crime. Who will workout with me, run, cook, do things with me. I want someone who will "play." Someone who is not only going to be my lady but my friend as well. Someone with similarities and just enough differences. I am only looking for chemistry, no checklists!

The most influential person in my life has been:

This question makes me feel like somebody asking “Do you like your mom or dad most?”. I am tempted to cheat and pick someone from my family or friends since they have been all very influential in my life. But I would say “My first boss”. He is a person who perfectly demonstrates work ethics. Not only did he patiently teach me how to tackle technical problems but he also showed me how to be a true leader. He is in his seventies now and still full of energy and passionate about life and work.

The three things which I am most thankful for:
My parents. I could not be the person, who I am, without their support.
My friends. And I believe in the saying "Show me who your friends are and I will tell you who you are".
My education. Lets me pursue an exciting career.

Three of my best life-skills are
:
Achieving personal goals
Keeping physically fit
Maintaining a network of close friends

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:
This is still work in progress

The things I can't live without are:
National Geographic
Shift stick cars
A nice breakfast on a lazy Sunday morning
Wasabi- makes eating sushi a fun experience
My dance shoes

The first thing people notice about me:
People say that I have a warm and friendly smile. Maybe when we meet, you may notice something else but you will have to let me know

Some additional information I want you to know:
I like listening to music, particularly Rock (Gun’s and Roses, Metallica). I also enjoy classical music (Beethoven’s 5th Symphony or Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana). I like almost every type of food including Mexican, Japanese, South American, Middle Eastern, Indian, Thai. I am a good cook too. My friends love my baked pasta and tiramisu recipes. And by the way, I am a sucker for blue.

I typically spend my leisure time:
Besides dancing, I like traveling, camping, road trips, canoeing. I tried caving in Mammoth Caves, KY. Skydiving and hang-gliding are still on my to-do-list. I like working out, watching and playing sports. I currently play soccer in a co-ed recreational league as being the goalie of the team. I enjoy spending time and playing board games with friends. Settlers of Catan is our favorite game nowadays. I also like reading books.

The last book I read and enjoyed:
Valhalla Rising by Clive Cussler. It was an adventure novel, full of surprises and breath taking right from the beginning to the end. I could not drop the book until I finished it.

My friends describe me as:
Genuine
Caring
Passionate
Romantic
