An No to the IM feature. I already am distracted enough by the posts, let alone an IM feature. Must....get.... work..... done....

Back in 2010, before the (clears throat loudly) 'upgrades' began and the site began to tank, we had our own version of public IMs. We would have roll call threads every Friday and Saturday night that went on for 60-100 pages, on average. The posts would fly so fast and furious you almost couldn't keep up - it was a blast! That is how most of us old-timers got to be such good friends, to the point that I have met many of my roll-call buddies in real life.
Those days, and many of those posters, are either gone, or post on a very limited basis. It's too bad, really - that was the heart of EHA; many great flirtations, friendships and relationships started in those threads.

^^^^ this would be great on Friday and Saturday nights. It'd be fun and build community on the boards. The current rollcall threads are... slow.

IM daily would be distracting, as jc said:
Must....get.... work..... done....

Has there ever been an IM feature on eHarmony? Not eHA, but just plain ol' eHarmony? It would be nice to be able to chat in "real-time" with matches once we are finished with GC. I can usually learn more in 10 minutes of IM than I can in several email exchanges!
