Looks like the Height Preference indicator is gone

I just logged onto my eH account for the first time in a few months to look over my settings in case a FCW is actually coming up. It looked a little different to me, but the only change of any substance I saw was the tab where you could indicate how tall you are and whether your match's height was important to you is completely gone.

It's just as well that it's gone as I don't think they ever screened matches based on height no matter what you put there. I think it frustrated people more than anything because if you did have a preference it seemed it was being ignored. Also, their choices were silly as you could indicate your match's height was important to you, but not whether that meant you wanted them to be taller, shorter or the same height range as you.

I never cared as I have no preference on my matches' height. I just thought it was interesting to note that it was gone. Heck, maybe it's been gone for a long time and I'm just not that observant!

Oh my goodness!! It was recently removed. It did work, but not in a way that was intuitive to anyone, other than the programmers who designed the system.

If you set height preference as important, it meant, if you were a woman, that you wanted someone taller than you, and if you were a guy, that you wanted someone shorter than you. It respected your preference until the system started to run dry, then you got inundated with the rest of your pool because they still matched with you on 29 dimensions.

WW--Since you had a small pool and/or listed your preference as not important, it looked to you like it didn't matter.

Yeah, when it was on there I had it listed all the way down to "0" for importance. Looks like I may have a date from match this week... and he's 5'4". Seriously, doesn't bother me a bit.

You still set your height on your profile in the Basics section. And your height still shows up on your profile.

I guess this would explain why I have been getting matches that are 8 inches taller than I am. Sorry eHarmony it ain't gonna work. BTDT.

Interesting. I routinely got matches 5 and 6 inches shorter than me even though I had height set to high importance. If they aren't going to take it into account anyway, I'd just as soon not see it there!
