Good morning everyone (and merry Christmas Eve!). I was going through my archives, just cleaning out the accumulated matches that i'm wanting to close. However, 2 of the archived matches don't have a "close" option. There's nothing where that tab should be. In fact, my only option with these two is "send a message."
Wondering if it's a glitch, or maybe they have paid a lot more for a membership that allows them never to be closed

This is a glitch. Two things to try. First refresh the page and see if the Close button appears. If that does not solve the problem then try clearing your cache. If neither of these fixes the problem then wait until tomorrow and try again, things may work better tomorrow.

Click on the "send message" button. Typically you then get a message that the match is unavailable, with an option to permanently close. Close.

Normally when you close a match, you can re-open the profile (unless your match closes you too). Not so in these cases. You will be permanently closing them. Probably made intuitive sense to some programmer to have you close this way rather than allowing a confirmatory dialogue box that you don't mind "permanently" closing the match.

Thanks--it did work. Just cleanin' house :-) So, why does this happen--is it because that match has turned off their settings to receive matches?

I don't know for certain. My guess is they've put their account on hold through eH. It's happened with profiles in my New and in my Archive folders that I've wanted to close.

If you turn off matching, you don't get new matches, but you can still communicate/send messages via eH with an existing match...that I do know.

If you close your account, anyone you were communicating with gets closed on your end, and you get moved to their archive folder.

This is a bit of a mystery.

Sorry to revivify a dead thread, but I got this message with one of my matches and I'm confused as to what the message is telling me. I've searched this forum and there are queries about this going back at least a year and no body seems to know what the cause of this message is. Is there any "new info" on this topic? Has anyone called the help line? At this point, I just want a straight answer from eH so that I understand what I'm choosing when I choose to close an "unavailable" match.
