I like... what are you looking forward to? How did you come to be on e harmony? I always ask a question about something they mention in their profile too. people get bonus points if they chose their own answers in the first round of questions too! Just this morning I got 2nd questions where the guy SEVEN" questions and four "essay questions."I tried to answer... but ran out of room.LOL!! He asked me if I was looking for a buddy... how do I answer that without sounding mean? "I wouldn't used those terms exactly..." It made me feel like he wants someone to play video games with rather than a romantic relationship! Anyway, I didn't close him out 'cause I'm dying to see how he answers my questions!!
I would be very grateful if you would share the "SEVEN QUESTIONS AND 4 ESSAY QUESTIONS' with us on this topic! Best regards and luck, Bill

Among the standard questions I like the one about personal style. It always tells me a little bit about where the person's head is, given that personal style is not defined. I like the what would you do if you had a million dollars and the random things questions. Lots of fun.

I agree Pam! Maybe we should make our own sub-committee for matching ourselves up with people here!

Thanks for these great ideas everyone! I have used many of them. I think the personal touch I used will be appreciated by my matches, as will asking them at least one question about them.

I don't mind answering custom questions, but they only get answered when I have quite a bit of free time. The upside with the pre-made questions is I can give pre-made answers, so they get answered quickly

However, I did receive one set of 'custom questions' a few weeks ago that nearly made me close out the match then and there. On each of the custom question lines, they completely filled out the 'Question box' with 12-15 questions in each box. Up until that point, I thought the match could be interesting, but there was no way I was going to answer 40+ questions before getting into OC. About a week later she closed because I had failed to respond, heh.

I'm still kind of getting use to this whole online dating thing, but I recently had a match close on me after I sent her the following questions...

If you could be stranded anywhere in the world for a month with another person, where would it be and who would you feel the most comfortable with; the most uncomfortable?

What do you find yourself being the most curious about in life or the world? For instance, something that you heard about and you just had to know more until you felt satisfied that your curiosity no longer ailed you?

They say life is about simple pleasures, what is your simplest pleasure, and how does it make you feel?

I though they were pretty straight forward, but apparently I had offended her or something; are these questions really that offensive, or are they just weird?

I think your questions were pretty good and wouldn't have closed a match based on those.

I have used "now that I've answered your questions, and you've read my Must Haves/Can't Stands, is there anything that you find alarming or that you have questions about? What that you've read makes you think that we'd be a good match". I get some pretty good answers in reply and it gives me the chance to see if the match is reading me correctly.
