Sorting Matches - "Recent Activity" feature?

I have looked though the help info and this site but can't find any reference to what the "Recent Activity" sorting feature actually does. I assumed it would put my matches who had most recently been active on the site at the top of the list, but it doesn't seem to do this. It also doesn't seem to tell me who has most recently updated something (which I can see from the home page anyhow). So what exactly does this sorting feature do? Anyone know?

You can change the way your matches are sorted - you can sort them by Communication Stage (1's together, 2's together, etc.), most recent match delivery date, oldest match delivery date, and recent activity - i.e. the last person who emailed or responded, Switch to one of the others and switch back; unless you have a very small number of matches you will see a difference.

Red is correct, sorting on Recent Activity is activity with you not activity on the site.
