I have been on the boards for some time and have now finally decided to seek some advice pertaining to my profile:

The one thing I am most passionate about:
Spending time with my family and friends, reading about Philosophy and contemplating life. Enjoying nature, creativity and art. Meditation is a big part of my life, I find peace and comfort in quiet reflection. I have done some pottery and would like to get back to this hobby. I am also very passionate about my work and it is definitely more than a job, however I am not defined by my work.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:
I would like to meet someone, who enjoys life by being spontaneous and playful; who is curious and willing to take chances. Someone who thinks outside of the box and knows himself well.
Someone who has integrity and compassion. Someone who realizes that mistakes are learning opportunities and humble reminders of our imperfections.

The most influential person in my life has been:
My close friends, we have very honest and nurturing friendships. We often have thought provoking discussions, which lead to new insights.

The three things which I am most thankful for:
My two children
My friends, who are always there for me
My experiences in life, so far it has been a wonderful journey

Three of my best life-skills are:
Volunteering my time to causes I care about
Managing my finances
Continuing to expand my knowledge and awareness

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:
I am spontaneous. I can be shy in certain situations and I know my friends always find that surprising.

Other than your appearance, what is the first thing people notice about you?
I am very approachable and easy to talk to. At times I am more of a listener than a talker.

What are five things that you "can't live without?"
my kids
my friends
dark chocolate and decaf expresso
books
learning

Some additional information I want you to know:

I typically spend my leisure time:
I love being out in nature, being in the forest. I used to live on Vancouver Island and love the rugged coastal lines. I enjoy hiking, pushing beyond my limits and biking.
I have volunteered for many years for different causes. I also love reading, often biographies or philosophy.

The last book I read and enjoyed:
Eat, Pray and Love. It was really well written. It's a great story about finding personal fulfillment and reaching beyond the known. The movie was really good as well.

My friends describe me as:
Good Listener
Spiritual
Genuine
Perceptive

Other details
Occupation: Coordinator
Height: 5'10'
Education: Associates
Kids: Maybe
Ethnicity: White, non-Hispanic
Religion: Spiritual, but not religious
Smokes: Never
Drinks: A few times a year

I think that covers everything, looking forward to your comments. Many thanks.

Your profile is pretty good....what you should talk about it more...especially under the passionate about part....is what causes you volunteer with and why. What you put there can be put under additional info part.

You need to stay away from gen eralities/chiches...try to be specific...

Also when you talk about loving nature...this could mean you life to sit in your backyard and look at the trees in the backyard. What does it mean...really?

What are your age/distance limits? If you see someone you like send them questions...dont wait for them to commonicate with you.

You sound like a very peaceful, tranquil person. If that describes you, you've got a kick butt profile.

Maybe add one or two traits or activities that defy that overall perception. I'm sure you've got a few surprises to offer. Like getting all overly invested in watching a hockey game, or being freakishly competitive at backgammon or badminton. Something that shows range. Just an idea. Still a solid profile as is!

Thanks ami1uwant,
My pictures show my favorite hike and me kayaking. Maybe I'll add that I really enjoy camping in any season.

I will elaborate about the volunteering in my additional info:
I enjoy building relationships in my community and have volunteered for the last 15 years for many different causes. One of my favorite volunteer jobs was at the Art Gallery. I have also been contemplating helping at the SPCA.

I have been flexible in my distance settings and with age I am pretty open as well. I do write to many matches, however I really notice that a lot of my matches are inactive.
I have met some really nice people and I am currently taking a little break and therefore thinking of re-writing a bit.

Thanks Helen,
You have picked up the essence of who I am. I do tend to be peaceful and tranquil.
I do also have a very playful and fun side, however that is something that I don't always expose - so that is what I will work on. Still waters do run deep and I have some wild stories I could tell. I'll have to think of a way of adding some details along those lines.
I really appreciate your feedback.

I'm in your age group and I like your profile...it's well written and it sounds like the pictures you describe would add to it greatly.

And anyone who helps out at the SPCA, earns extra points with me...I sponsor a kennel at a dog rescue shelter near me.

I would contact you based on what I've read.

Thanks Thinker,
I have noticed from your posts that you would have a similar outlook, too bad you're not in my neighborhood. My friends keep telling me that I am pretty unique. I love meeting new people and I am enjoying the matches that I meet. I am definitely learning with every new encounter and I am aware and flexible with whoever comes forward.
