Here is my profile in a nutshell.... I am sure it needs a LOT of tweaking, so have it! Thanks for the help

--Profile--

The one thing I am most passionate about:
Experience, whether it be a great book, an interesting movie, a fantastic new restaurant, an amazing trip, or a great day with my family or friends, there is nothing like finding joy in the things that I love. (This definitely includes my love of the Red Sox and Patriots as well)
The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:
Someone who embraces life and wants to see what the world has to offer. And a sense of humor, that is also a must. And stability....ok now I am sounding like Steve Martin in "The Jerk"....this ashtray and this chair are all I need.....and my dog.
About Me
Basic Information
Occupation: Corporate Education & Training
Age 34
Height 5' 4"
Wants Kids: Maybe
Kids at Home: No
Ethnicity White, non-Hispanic
Religion: Spiritual, but not religious
Drinks: About once a week
Smokes: Never
In my own words:
The most influential person in my life has been:
My Memere, my mother's mom. She was the greatest, sweetest, most loving person in the world. From her I learned how to be patient and how to love unconditionally. I have confidence and believe in myself because of how much she loved me and how proud she was of me.
The three things which I am most thankful for:
•The love & closeness of my family
•My amazing friends
•My sense of humor & intelligence

Three of my best life-skills are:
•Finding creative solutions to everyday problems
•Using humor to make friends laugh
•Being a good friend and companion

The one thing I wish MORE people would notice about me:
I tend to be a bit quiet around new people, this is honestly not due to shyness. I like to size up a situation before I jump into it. I wish people would realize that I am really a very adventurous person who is always willing to try new things.

The things I can't live without are:
My family
My iPhone
Humor
A good book (my ereader)
Cards & games

The first thing people notice about me:
I like to hope that they notice my sharp wit and intelligence.
My interests
I typically spend my leisure time:

Going for walks, especially in the woods or on the beach during an off season. Playing games & spending time with family and friends, reading, watching movies & tv, cooking, running around with my nephews or cheering them on at their various sporting events.

The last book I read and enjoyed:
I think the last book I read that I got really involved in was Stephen King's "Under the Dome". I had a run of bad books before that, but I know that King's stories are always guaranteed to be good. Since I read at a pace of about a book a week, I end up running into duds a lot. I find his characters are always interesting and I get really involved in their story. Some of my other favorite authors includ Douglas Adams, LM Montgomery, Rosamunde Pilcher, Vonnegut...Wait, was the correct answer "War & Peace"?

According to my friends:
My friends describe me as:
Funny
Passionate
Thoughtful
Intelligent
__________________________________________________

I know that the reading thing can be off-putting but I love to read and I do read a lot so I don't want to hide that....and I know it looks like I spend a lot of time sitting around, but honestly I don't, I am just not the gym rat type. However, I would love some advice and would like to "finesse" my profile to be more intriguing, but I don't want to be misrepresented....

I like your profile Gigi it made me laugh (in a good way!).

I'd work on your 'most passionate about' answer. This is difficult for a lot of folks, but I think people usually do best when they pick one thing and expand on it a bit (cooking, music, etc.)

Passionate is why you chose your career, a hobby you love and would never give up, a cause that interests you, a place you regularly volumteer at. These items you said here can be placed elsewhere under more info.

The most important thing I am looking for in a person is:
Someone who embraces life and wants to see what the world has to offer. This is cliche seen it 10,000 times.... And a sense of humor, that is also a must. And stability....ok now I am sounding like Steve Martin in "The Jerk"....this ashtray and this chair are all I need.....and my dog. This part here makes no sense whatsoever. remove it.

If you are adventurous and willing to try new things then share a story in your profile about one such example.
The things I can't live without are:

Cards & games

You seem to have a busy live....You have room for a guy???

You reading is not the issue...but you need to stress you do more than just reading and/or playing games. You need to describe a story on you being adventurous.

For a laundry list answer, this is not bad.

I got the joke and lol'd. The first sentence is meh.

How about: I'm not shy; I am just waiting to ambush people. Ok, not quite, but see if you can fix that a bit with some humor.

Agree if you are going to say adventure you better either post some pics proving it up or tell the reader what that means to you. IE is adventure sky diving or eating hot sauce....

The things I can't live without are:
My family
My iPhone
Humor
A good book (my ereader) More specific
Cards & games More specific....eg worlds of warcraft or pinochle....?

Cooking Thai, playing Risk and watching Hot Tub Time machine or Cooking tofu burgers, playing canasta and watching bambi?

Comments above in blue.

I think you do a really nice job with the humor....and that is tough to do. Go back and add some specifics.

Best.

Hi Gigi,

It looks like you have some really good feedback from everyone, so I'll just leave words of encouragement: I think the important thing is to not get too frustrated or give up. Guys, and as I know from experience, Girls, can be very finicky and they can find ways to just say "No" to your profile without going further. As a guy, I can say make sure that you put the best pictures that you can of yourself out there. If you can, you should go out with friends or family with a camera and have them take a 100 pictures of you. I'm serious! You'll be bound to get at least a 1/2 dozen that will be great that you can post. Above all, don't give up, everything will work out. ;^)

Thank you all for the advice, I am definitely going to rework the profile using what you have given me for feedback. The movie line reference sadly seems like it has to go, but I will miss it. I was hoping to find someone who got it, but I may be scaring other potentials off with it.
The passionate about answer is the toughest for me, but I will work on refining it and adding some specifics to the rest of my profile. However I have to say it seems from this thread and others I have read that no matter how great I make my profile, it probably won't help because guys only look to the pictures to make a decision without bothering to read the profile. I thought the fact that the matches are supposed to be based on some magic formula eharmony came up with meant that people would be more open to actually reading about their matches before closing them. Oh well not the end of the world, but I probably will not be renewing.

Thanks again everyone!!

PS Rob, thanks for the kind words and I like the photo idea, I think I will drag my brother out to do some shots, if it ever stops raining here!

Kiki got it and I got it (well, I got that it was a joke from a movie). I wouldn't take it out if I were you; I think it's cute and different.

I guess it never completely occurred to me that "The Jerk" wouldn't be known.. I am so clueless sometimes. I am looking for guys my age or older, 34-45.
Question for the more experienced forum people, if I want to repost my revised profile, should I just do a new post? Should I mention it is revised? I kind of totally blew up my profile after reading all this, so I would love to see what people think now.
