Does anyone think a direct "closed" button direct to a separate (not part of archive) folder .......would make things more efficient than the current must archive first then close? Also....... closed matches still showing up under updates on home page...... why...just why?

They used to have a separate "closed" tab, and the "archive" was called "hold". First they got rid of "hold", then they made "archive" and "closed" a part of the same tab.

Why? To tweak things. No other good reason!

I think it would be good to made "Archive" just "archive" and put "closed" on it's own "Closed" tab.

Eventually they may do this. Or they may not. Whatevs....You can spend a lot of time wondering why they do what they do, or just concentrate on communicating matches! I tend to just worry about matches on the first page of my communicating tab, and ignore the rest. Sometimes I go in and close out non-communicating matches, but really, what does it hurt having a non-active person stuck back on a back page of the communicating tab? Until they make it easier to close them, I just leave them there and ignore them!

Absolutely..we've been asking for this for a long time..

IMO eH doesn't want to to close, they want you to archive. The archive folder was designed for NPM's and not for 'organization' as promoted when it was released.

In regards to closed matches and showing us updates.. This is by far the dumbest thing eH has done, makes no sense at all.

I think there should be an option to send matches straight to the 'archived' folder where no photo is on their profile and for the match to auto return to the 'new' folder when a photo has been put on their profile.

I find seeing closed matches on my updated page so frustrating. It defeats the purpose of closing a match. Are the people at EH done with the updating, or still in process of changing the format? I am hoping it is still a work in progress...

They call it a feature.......believe it or not , rather than admitting it's a useless glitch.........So as much as it is complained about and absurd as it is........it's a "feature" at this point.

There is still the issue of archived as well as closed matches appearing as "updates" on the homepage......... Also, you appear on theirs...so whenever you update........ your closed and archives matches see it on their homepage as well.........and........ must be wondering also.......what are these matches doing here?

I don't think they are *ever* done with tweaking the site! I've been on for 7 1/2 years and it has rarely stayed the same for more than a few months at a time.

Great idea........The short cut they thought of for that is the "photo updates" section.......then you have to notice them amongst all the closed, communicating and sea of other ones.......... the rub is the closed ones are in there as well.
I think there should be an option to send matches straight to the 'archived' folder where no photo is on their profile and for the match to auto return to the 'new' folder when a photo has been put on their profile.
it would be great if they had 3 separate options / buttons:
1)Communicate button- then into the communicate folder
2) Archive - into the archive folder (sort of hold, waiting for etc.) then........if they get a picture,etc.......it would appear as updates
3) Closed- directly into the closed folder and not reappearing on the homepage unless they are reopened /or there is a reopen request.

Actually a "report profile" button has crossed my mind for all the cryptic email, "I'm actually just separated"etc. types.......Rather than the cumbersome match concerns email . Any thoughts?

Totally agree. There are some matches that are simply going to be no goes because of major dealbreakers. Now, eHarmony simply thinks it knows better than you when it comes to closing. After all, that delabreaker today could change tomorrow.

Unfortunately, archive benefits eHarmony because now people don't get hurt feelings because they don't know they've been archived. Now they're just in a perpetual limbo. At least when they had the hideous "on hold" system, you could know if you were put on hold and you even got a reason why.

The archive system serves absolutely no purpose for me other than adding an extra step to close matches.

This is something that eHarmony needs to fix and fix fast. I like the idea of being able to see these things from matches, but I have no desire to see this from matches that have closed me, matches I've closed or matches that have been removed from the system. That does nothing but pollute the stream.

These are exactly the two things they need to fix if I'm going to resubscribe. We've been told that they will fix the problem (uh, I mean the "enhancement") of closed matches showing up on home pages, but I've yet to hear when this will happen. Even if they do, though, they need to bring back the direct close (without archiving) option for it to do any good.
